Founded in 1988, the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation ( a Charity Vision Int'l affiliate) has provided thousands of free and subsidized operations every year to correct medical conditions such as cataracts, crossed eyes, cleft lip and palate, clubfeet, and limb loss in need of prosthesis, for individuals without means. The word 'deseret' comes from the ancient word for honeybee and represents the philos

ophy of the foundation. At Mabuhay Deseret, Filipino doctors volunteer their time, local hospitals provide substantial discounts on the use of their facilities and patients and their family members contribute by cooking and cleaning during their stay in our Recuperative Houses. By working together with members of the community, the Foundation is able to perform dramatic, life-changing surgery for thousands of Filipinos every year.

A wonderful surprise and a meaningful reunion! 💛🐝

We were honored to welcome Grant and Susan Pace, whose unwavering support and leadership played an important role during the early years of Mabuhay Deseret Foundation. Their visit brought back cherished memories of how far we've come and the many lives that have been transformed through compassion and service.

It was also a pleasure to have Mike Johnson join the visit, making this gathering even more special as we reflected on our shared mission and looked forward to the future.

To everyone who has been part of the Mabuhay journey—thank you for helping us continue to bring hope, healing, and brighter tomorrows to thousands of Filipino families.

The work continues. 💛🦿

Behind every prosthetic leg is a story of dedication, precision, and hope.

Our PaAgosto Mission is in full swing, and while fitting patients is the moment many get to see, countless hours of preparation happen behind the scenes. From creating plaster molds and modifying casts to carefully shaping each prosthetic socket, every step is done with one goal in mind—to help someone walk toward a better future.

This is just the beginning. 🐝

Over the next few days, we'll take you behind the scenes of our mission, introduce you to the incredible people making it possible, and share the inspiring moments that remind us why we do what we do.

👣 What part of the prosthetic-making process are you most curious about? Let us know in the comments—we might feature it in one of our upcoming posts!

👓 One family's generosity can help thousands see a brighter future.

As we celebrate Sight Saving Month this August, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mark Jenson and his family for their incredible generosity and compassion.

Through their donation of eyeglasses, they are helping bring the gift of clearer vision to individuals who may otherwise go without the eye care they need. These simple yet meaningful acts of kindness will help restore not only sight but also confidence, independence, and opportunities for many Filipinos.

At Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, we believe that restoring vision is more than improving eyesight—it is giving someone the chance to return to school, earn a living, care for their family, and experience life's precious moments more clearly.

To Mark Jenson and your family, thank you for choosing to make a difference. Your generosity is a reminder that when families come together to serve others, the impact reaches far beyond what we can see.

This Sight Saving Month, we also celebrate the many individuals, families, partners, and volunteers who continue to support our mission of bringing hope and healing to communities across the Philippines. Together, we are changing lives—one pair of glasses, one patient, and one act of kindness at a time.

If you or your family would like to support our eye care programs or donate eyeglasses to help those in need, we'd love to hear from you. Together, we can help more people see a brighter tomorrow.

💛 Thank you, Mark Jenson and family, for helping us make the world a little brighter.

🚶‍♀️💙 PaAgosto Begins Today! 💛🦿

This August, every foot deserves the chance to walk again.

Today marks the official kickoff of PaAgosto 2026, Mabuhay Deseret Foundation's annual prosthetic mission dedicated to restoring mobility, independence, and hope to individuals living with limb loss.

From August 3–7, 2026, our team, together with our generous partners and volunteers, will work hand in hand to provide life-changing prosthetic care—because every step forward is a step toward a brighter future.

Every prosthetic fitted is more than just a device. It is a chance to return to school, earn a living, embrace loved ones, and confidently walk toward new possibilities.

This week, join us as we celebrate stories of resilience, compassion, and lives transformed—one step at a time.

Restoring Mobility. Restoring Lives. Together.

As we close Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month, we celebrate stories like Autumn's—a journey of resilience, hope, and the unwavering love of a mother determined to help her child find her voice. 💛

After her cleft palate surgery, Autumn still faced challenges with speech. Like many parents, Nanay Belinda didn't know what to do next. But through our Speech Therapy Camp, she learned that healing doesn't stop in the operating room. Parents become partners in their child's progress, gaining the knowledge and confidence to continue therapy at home.

Today, Autumn speaks with confidence. She can communicate with her siblings, her classmates, and her teachers—so much so that even her teacher didn't realize she had been born with a cleft palate.

This is the impact of comprehensive cleft care: surgery, speech therapy, family support, and a community that walks beside every child and every parent.

To Nanay Belinda and Autumn, thank you for sharing your inspiring journey with us. Your story reminds us that every child deserves not only a smile but also the confidence to be heard.

As Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month comes to an end, our commitment continues. Together, we'll keep creating brighter futures—one smile, one voice, and one family at a time. 🐝

Every smile begins with hope—and sometimes, it begins even before surgery. 💛

Did you know that babies born with a cleft lip or palate may benefit from Nasoalveolar Molding (NAM) before their cleft repair surgery?

NAM is a specialized treatment that gently helps shape the baby’s nose, lip, and gums, making it easier to achieve better surgical outcomes. Starting early can make a meaningful difference in a child’s journey toward healing.

At Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, we are committed to helping qualified children access FREE NAM treatment, along with guidance and referrals every step of the way.

If your baby was born with a cleft lip or palate, don’t wait. Early intervention matters, and we’re here to help.

📩 Send us a message to learn more about our FREE NAM Program and find out if your child may qualify.

Together, we can help every child smile with confidence. 💙

Every child deserves the opportunity to be heard.

For children born with a cleft palate, surgery is only one part of the journey. Complete cleft care also includes speech therapy—helping them communicate clearly, build confidence, and thrive in everyday life.

Through our annual Davao Speech Camp, in partnership with Smile Train, we empower parents to become active partners in their child's progress. Since therapy appointments may take time, parents are equipped with basic techniques they can already practice with their children right at home while waiting for their scheduled sessions.

When parents understand how speech therapy works, learning doesn't stop at the clinic—it continues every day at home. These small, consistent efforts can make a meaningful difference in a child's communication skills and self-confidence.

Because cleft care doesn't end with surgery—it continues until every child has the chance to speak with confidence and fully participate in their community.

Thank you to our dedicated Speech-Language Pathologists, volunteers, and our partner, Smile Train, for making this possible. Together, we're helping children find not just their voices, but the confidence to use them.

July is Cleft & Craniofacial Awareness Month 💛🐝

Every smile tells a story—and for children born with a cleft lip, cleft palate, or other craniofacial differences, that story is one of courage, resilience, and hope.

This month, we stand with every child, every family, and every healthcare professional working together to ensure that no one faces this journey alone. With timely medical care, speech therapy, proper nutrition, and the support of a loving community, children with cleft and craniofacial conditions can thrive and reach their full potential.

At Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to smile with confidence and live a healthier life. Through the generosity of our volunteer medical teams, partners, and supporters, we continue to help provide access to life-changing care for those who need it most.

Let's use this month to raise awareness, break misconceptions, and remind families that help is available and hope is always within reach.

Together, we can create a future where every smile shines brightly. 💛

Can a pair of glasses change a life? Absolutely. 👓💛

While our volunteer ophthalmologists performed cataract and pterygium surgeries, another team was busy helping patients see more clearly through our free eye screening in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro.

Not everyone needed surgery—some simply needed the right pair of glasses. And sometimes, that’s all it takes to help someone read, work, learn, and enjoy the little things they couldn’t see before.

Here’s to clearer vision, brighter smiles, and making every patient see the world a little better. ✨
