Vacuum Society of the Philippines Dr. Henry J. The VSP was then formed with the invited members as the founding members of the society.

The Vacuum Society of the Philippines (VSP) is the first organization in the Philippines composed of members from various institutions from the academe and industry who engage in research on plasma and vacuum science and technology. The idea of founding a vacuum society began in the Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPL) of the National Institute of Physics, UP Diliman. Ramos, the coordinator of PPL and the pioneer of plasma physics in the Philippines, envisioned a national institution dedicated to the study of plasma physics and vacuum science. He then invited capable individuals who share the same vision as his and made the first steps in achieving this dream.

The Vacuum Society of the Philippines (VSP) is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the Plasma & Society III technical training course,

"Vacuum Thin Films and Microfabrication: Fundamentals and Hands-On Training on Lithography and Deposition Techniques"
📅 August 6–8, 2026 (Thursday–Saturday)

This three-day technical training course is designed for university faculty members, early-career researchers, graduate students, industry professionals, personnel from government research institutions, and other interested participants who wish to build their knowledge and practical skills in vacuum technology, thin-film deposition, photolithography, and microfabrication.

Through a combination of lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of microfabrication and vacuum technology, learn the principles of photolithography and physical v***r deposition, and gain practical experience in key microfabrication processes, from substrate preparation to thin-film deposition and patterning.

The program consists of:
🔹 August 6 – Hybrid lecture sessions (DMMME Auditorium and Zoom)
🔹 August 7–8 – Onsite hands-on laboratory training at the University of the Philippines Diliman Microfabrication Facility (UPDMF)

⚠️ Please note that laboratory slots are limited, and completing the sensing form does not guarantee a slot in the laboratory training. Applicants selected for the laboratory training will receive a confirmation email with further instructions. Please wait for confirmation of your slot before proceeding with payment.

We hope this training course will contribute to strengthening local expertise in vacuum science and microfabrication while fostering collaboration among academia, research institutions, and industry.

This event is supported by the Electronic Materials and Processing Division (EMPD) of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA) and is conducted in partnership with the University of the Philippines Diliman Microfabrication Facility (UPDMF).
