REINVENTING THE FOOD SHED

We shall be closing the Shed temporarily after the feeding this Monday to fix and reinvent it. At the end of September, the Shed would turn 6 months. It seems like only yesterday when Jai and Kiki were here to launch this program as their engagement with the community during their residency in Dinginan.

Watch out for the new Shed, reopening on October 4. We shall continue our feeding program and snacks distribution on October 5, Monday, and more.

MONDAY FUN RUN!

School children from Marcos-Fuentes Integrated School had a fun run early this morning. By the time they dropped by the Food Shed, everyone was soaked in pink-colored water, courtesy of a fire truck from the Roxas City Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. It was also fun seeing kids driving motorbikes around like Prince (Grade 8 in his lemon yellow Rusi.)

Thank you, Mila Berano (the grand lady of Dinginan), Honey Love Yap (Mila's daughter), and Shene Pinalba for the chocolates. Thanks Mila for helping us serve the kids and some of their mothers hot witwit. The Food Shed continues to be alive because of artists, friends and donors.

IT IS NATIONAL HEROES DAY!

The kids in Dinginan are having a break, and so are we.

We are glad that Cow Dung Hill provides the kids with a natural playground, hanging on branches of a huge lunok tree and taking a respite at a nearby bamboo platform. No smartphones, no Tiktok, just raw laughter and giggles.

The Dinginan Food Shed Project just received a donation from an anonymous donor from abroad. Thank you on behalf of these kids. You know who you are. Hehe. The Food Shed is sustained by generous friends, artists, volunteers and local community.

FROM ROOTS TO LEGACY: A JOURNEY TO FUTURE GENERATIONS

The Capiz Museum for History and Contemporary Culture (CAPMU) is embarking on its first major project for 2027, From Roots to Legacy: A Journey to Future Generations. This inaugural exhibition integrates historical research with contemporary art to reintroduce Capisnon heritage, pride and identity in ways never presented before. Some important archival materials are sourced directly from international repositories of photographic archives on the Philippines, and particularly on Capiz.

The exhibition spreads across for sectIons: Our Indigenous People (Lower Ground Hallway), Our Fishermen (Upper Ground Hallway), Our Farmers (Second Floor Hallway), and Our People (Third Floor Hallway).

Anchored on 6 principles, CAPMU is envisioned to be a breathing and living infrastructure for arts and culture in Capiz; it shall operate along with the daily services provided by the Provincial Government to its constituents; it is an additional service, in fact, a gift for the people, showing them their history and a glimpse of their future; it is from a traditional top-down institution to an inclusive public space that reflects local voices, everyday histories, and grassroots social values; it shall highlight the narrative of the marginalized and underrepresented sectors from which they can derive pride and honor; and lastly, it shall be an intangible asset and a living legacy of, and an unquantifiable inheritance from, the present Provincial Administration.

CAPIZ MUSEUM FOR HISTORY AND CONTEMPORARY CULTURE

During a presentation on August 27, 2026 at the Capitol, Governor Fredenil Castro approved the proposal to open a museum inside the New Provincial Capitol building. The Capiz Museum for History and Contemporary Culture was pitched by the Forum for Cultural Advocacy (FoCA) represented by architects Jose Arcenas and Michael Mark Dela Cruz, art benefactor Joao Antonio Altavas and cultural worker Norberto Roldan.

FoCA is a non-profit organization composed of professionals from various fields like visual arts, architecture, urban development, education, hospitality, and curatorial and cultural work. Their shared advocacy to promote arts and culture, contribute in building the necessary infrastructure, and enhance cultural literacy as way to improve quality of life in the province, is what binds them together.

The group is grateful for the encouragement and support of Jose Nery Ong, president and CEO of Pueblo de Panay Inc, and for acting as the conduit between FoCA and Governor Castro.

Today is our last feeding day for August. We will see you, kids, in September.

Thank you to those who have been with us from the start and who continue to show their support: Honey Love Yap, Mila Berano, Apid, and Kapitan who usually does a drive-by in his tricycle early in the morning.

MISWA DAY!

The kids loved it. It’s a windy Monday morning. Children are rushing to School nearby. Farmers are taking it easy. They are just waiting to harvest in October. The rice paddies are natural wonders. After their kids have gone to school, daily wage earners rush for work in the city. Life in the village is simple and predictable. But uncomplicated and less stressful.

The snacks distribution and feeding program has also become a routine. But it is one routine we happily keep looking forward to each week. Thanks to our donors and volunteers. It is a privilege to do community work.

MISS MO ANG MISWA? SIGI, SA LUNES!

Our volunteer cook will serve miswa soup with chicken and vegetables to kids and village folks this coming Monday. Thanks to Teacher Lilit and the yoga community of Tranquil Space Roxas for their donation.
