🤩 Salinlahi Alliance for Children's Concerns celebrates Amnesty International's recognition of the valuable contributions of Cong. Sarah Elago for Most Outstanding Human Rights Defender. Cong. Elago has tirelessly proven her dedication to protecting and uplifting women, children, the LGBTQ community and the most marginalized people in the Philippines through her dedication in moving legislation that speaks volumes to our rights and protection. Her vital role inside the halls of Congress of a government that regularly falls short on meeting the standards necessary for Filipino children to thrive and live to their fullest potential. Congratulations Cong. Sarah Elago!

The for Human Rights was born not only to recognize their bravery, but also as a pushback against the persistent demonization, harassment, and silencing of human rights defenders. At a time when standing for people’s rights is often met with attacks and disinformation, Ignite Awards affirms that defending human rights is never a crime, but it is an act of courage, solidarity, and hope.

𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚, 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫!

Ngayong araw ay kinumpirma ng International Criminal Court (ICC) ang warrant of arrest para sa dating police chief at kasalukuyang senador na si Bato Dela Rosa. Sa kasalukuyan, sinusubok ng NBI at PNP na maihain ang arrest warrant.

Dapat lang na arestuhin si Dela Rosa para sa kanyang naging papel sa madugong Gyera Kontra Droga ng dating administrasyong Duterte. Kaliwa’t kanan ang naging paglabag sa karapatang pantao sa ilalim ng polisiyang ito na pangunahing naka-target sa mga maralitang komunidad.

Maaalalang si Bato Dela Rosa ang nagsabing “collateral damage” lamang ang mga batang sadyang pinaslang sa mga operasyon ng kapulisan. Nariyan si Kian Delos Santos (17 taong gulang) at Myca Ulpina (3 taong gulang) na ilan lamang sa mga batang biktima nila Duterte at Bato.

Ilang daang bata rin ang ngayo’y nakararanas ng matinding trauma dahil sa sinapit ng kanilang mga magulang o mahal sa buhay na pinaslang sa ngalan ng polisiya ni Duterte. Matindi rin ang epekto hindi lamang sa kalusugang mental ngunit sa pangkalahatang pag-unlad ng mga batang naulila ng mga kadalasan na “breadwinner” ng kanilang pamilya.

Ang pagpapaaresto sa senador ay isang hakbang paabante tungo sa hustisya na matagal nang isinisigaw ng mga biktima at mamamayang Pilipino. Panawagan ng Salinlahi Alliance for Children’s Concerns ang agarang paglilitis ni Sen. Dela Rosa upang siya’y papanagutin sa mga krimeng ginawa nya sa mga batang Pilipino.
