The Review of Women’s Studies (RWS), a refereed journal published by the University of the Philippines Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS), invites submissions for a special issue on q***r studies in the Philippines.

Co-edited by John Andrew G. Evangelista and Jose Antonio R. Clemente, this special issue is dedicated to publishing papers and creative work presented during the 2024 and 2026 Philippine Q***r Studies Conference. During these conferences, our conversations revolved around the intersection between q***r theorizing and practice. We seek to translate these jubilant and critical conversations into the pages of this special issue.

We just wrapped up the Healthy Cities with Pride Inception Workshop! 🌈💖

We were especially happy to welcome our partners from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), alongside our partners and communities here in the Philippines. Different contexts, experiences, and perspectives came together in one room, but with a shared commitment to building cities where LGBTQI communities can be healthier.

Here’s to the beginning of Healthy Cities with Pride ✨ and to making sure that pride, health, and community leadership are felt where they matter most: in our cities and communities. 💕

📢 CALL FOR RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS

A graduate student from the UP Diliman Department of Psychology is looking for participants for a study on family relationships, identity, and ginhawa among young LBTI+ (le***an, bisexual, transgender, intersex) women.

✨ WHO CAN JOIN:
- Aged 18 to 39 years old
- Identifies as part of the LBTI+ community or having a q***r or diverse SOGIESC
- Self-identifies as a woman or aligns self with womanhood
- Navigates different experiences of openness, silence, or acknowledgment within the family (parents or siblings)
- Does not have same-sex parents

✨ WHAT'S INVOLVED:
- 2 face-to-face interviews with the researcher in UP Diliman
- Topics include family relationships, identity, and ginhawa
