The Katbalaoganon Filipinos International Foundation Inc. (KFI) recently completed the distribution of more than 1,000 hooded rain gears to pupils of 16 public elementary schools in Catbalogan City, Samar. The donation is part of KFI’s ongoing commitment to support education and provide essential resources for children facing difficult conditions.

Working with DepEd’s Schools Division of Catbalogan City, the rain ponchos were distributed to schoolchildren to help protect them from the frequent and heavy rains in the region, which often disrupt their daily commute and cause damage to their school supplies. Many of the recipients are from far-flung areas, where access to basic resources is limited and the weather conditions can make it especially challenging for students to attend school.

KFI Chairman of the Board Dr. Vicente Tanseco Jr. expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the welfare of the youth in Catbalogan:

"We understand how difficult it can be for children to get to school, especially during the rainy season. Our hope is that these rain ponchos will not only help shield them from the elements but also encourage them to continue pursuing their education despite the challenges. This is just one step in our ongoing mission to uplift the lives of the Filipino youth and strengthen communities in Catbalogan."

KFI President Mamet Tizon echoed these sentiments, highlighting the impact of the donation on the children's daily lives:

"Education should never be hindered by weather conditions. We are pleased to be able to provide these ponchos, which we hope will not only protect the students and their school supplies but also give them a sense of confidence as they head to school every day. This project is a testament to the unity and resilience of the Katbalaoganon community, and we are grateful for the continued support from our partners and donors."

The rain ponchos were distributed to schools in various barangays, including those in remote island communities and hinterland areas, where access to supplies is often limited. Teachers and school officials expressed their appreciation for the thoughtful donation, emphasizing how the ponchos will help safeguard both students and their schoolwork from the harsh weather conditions.

The Katbaloganon Filipinos International Foundation (KFI) continues to be a steadfast advocate for educational access and community development, especially for underserved areas in Samar. This latest initiative is just one of many programs that KFI has implemented to support local communities and empower future generations.

KFI expresses its appreciation to its members, donors, and supporters whose continued generosity makes programs like this possible. The foundation reaffirms its dedication to implementing community-centered initiatives that uplift the lives of Catbaloganons.
