Enlightening Talk on Eye Health on adults and elderly

Last February 5, 2026, RC Kagitingang Cubao hosted an eye-opening session on -Eye Diseases in Adults and the Elderly-with distinguished ophthalmologist Doctor Edgardo Aguirre, MD. We were also honored to welcome guests from the Rotary Club of Aseana Bayanihan Manila D3810 headed by UCP Violet De Guia and CP Gary Beltran and from RC Manila Glimmar Prime represented by UCP Imelda de Guzman and PE Angelo Fabro. We also have other visiting friends from Los Angeles California who joined us in this Face to face club meeting learning.

Dr. Aguirre spoke with both expertise and compassion, explaining common eye conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy — illnesses that often go unnoticed until they affect daily life. He emphasized the importance of regular eye exams, early detection, and simple lifestyle habits that can help preserve sight as we age.

The talk resonated deeply with many of our members and guests, especially those caring for aging parents or experiencing vision changes themselves. It reminded us that sight is a gift we often take for granted, and that awareness is the first step to prevention.

RCKC extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Edgardo Aguirre for generously sharing his time and knowledge. We also thank our guests for their presence and support. Together, we continue to champion health and wellness for our communities.

“Rotary Club of Kagitingang Cubao Brings Joy and Mobility to the Elderly at GRACES*

January 10. 2026 - It was a day filled with smiles, music, and meaningful service. RC Kagitingang Cubao joined UST High School Batch ’87 in a community service project for the residents of GRACES — Golden Reception and Action Center for the Elderly and Other Special Cases, formerly known as Home for the Aged.

Batch ’87 gave their time and hearts, distributing elderly essentials like vitamins, adult diapers, clothes, and other necessities. The day came alive with singing, dancing, and games that brought laughter and warmth to our dear lolos and lolas.

To further support their mobility and dignity, RC Kagitingang Cubao, represented by Past President Alvin Mangona, donated 2 wheelchairs for the residents. This was made possible through the generosity of PP Aida Remedios, whose heart for service continues to touch lives.

We are grateful to UST High School Batch ’87 for partnering with us in making our elderly feel loved and valued. Together, we are reminded that small acts of kindness create the biggest impact.

RC Kagitingang Cubao Sends Youth Delegates to RYLA District 3780

Feb. 21 & 22, 2026
RC Kagitingang Cubao proudly sponsored two youth delegates to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) of District 3780. RYLA is a transformative training program that develops leadership, communication, and teamwork skills among young leaders while instilling the value of _Service Above Self_.

Through interactive sessions, team-building activities, and talks from inspiring speakers, our delegates gained confidence, learned to lead with integrity, and built networks with fellow youth leaders across the district. Experiences like RYLA equip our youth to become proactive changemakers in their schools and communities.

Heartfelt thanks to pur Satellite members for sponsoring our delegates, and to our Youth Service Chair Polly for her unwavering guidance and support to our youth. Your commitment ensures that our young leaders are empowered and ready to serve.

The Rotary Club of Kagitingang Cubao has refurbished and repaired the wash area of 15th Ave Elementary School, RCKC’s adopted school. This is to ensure a safe and clean environment for students in time for the coming school year.

Originally constructed during RY 2019-2020 to promote student sanitation and hygiene, the facility had developed cracked tiles and leaking faucets after six years of use due to wear and tear. Designed for Grade 1 and 2 pupils, the wash area can accommodate 10 students at a time, promoting healthy habits and sanitation among our young learners. 🙌🏻

RC Kagitingang Cubao Hosts Webinar on Mediation as an Effective Dispute Resolution Mechanism*

Last February 21, 2026, the Rotary Club of Kagitingang Cubao hosted a timely webinar in line with Rotary’s February theme, Peace and Conflict Resolution, titled _“Mediation: An Effective Dispute Resolution Mechanism.”

The session highlighted how mediation fosters peaceful, cost-effective, and faster resolution of conflicts compared to traditional litigation. Our distinguished speaker, Atty. Jose Name, Chief of Staff, Supreme Court, shared valuable insights on the principles of mediation, its growing role in the justice system, and how it empowers parties to reach mutually beneficial agreements.

The webinar provided members and guests with practical knowledge on alternative dispute resolution, reaffirming Rotary’s commitment to peace building and conflict prevention. RC Kagitingang Cubao extends its gratitude to our speaker and all attendees for making this learning session meaningful.

March 31, 2026 - “Antiparasayo” brought eye care to Juan Sumulong High School, our adopted school!
Students who needed eyeglasses most got checked and helped. We're glad to improve their vision and boost their confidence in learning. Grateful for those who supported this initiative. Together, we make a difference in the community😊

February 22, 2026 - The Rotary Club of Kagitingang Cubao joined RID3780 Rotary Day of Service, focusing on Economic and Community Development. As part of the Rotary Area Focus, we launched our project "Global Opportunity" aiming to boost employment opportunities in our community.

The event offered a range of services catering to the community's needs, tackling the 7 Areas of Focus in Rotary. Kudos to everyone involved for making a difference.
