LOOK: KATRIBU joined the relaunch of POWER (People Opposed to Warrantless Electricity Rates and Energy Privatization) last October 17.

The event was attended by different sectors, including Indigenous Peoples, farmers, and consumers.

Funa-ay Claver elaborated on the impacts of destructive renewable energy projects on Indigenous Peoples, especially under a privatized, profit-oriented, and foreign-controlled framework of energy.

On behalf of the People Opposed to Warrantless Electricity Rates and Energy Privatization (POWER) being convened by AGHAM Advocates of Science and Technology for the People, Pro-people Professionals Engineers and Leaders (PROPEL), IBON, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas, NASECORE, Kalikasan-Peoples Network for the Environment, SUKI Network, KATRIBU, KADAMAY, Gabriela, BAYAN and Bayan Muna, we invite you to our official relaunch on October 17, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the UP School of Economics.

POWER is entering a new chapter with a bold, systemic vision for the energy sector. While lowering electricity rates remains a crucial immediate goal for consumers, our broader thrust addresses the root causes of our energy crisis. Central to our mission is the nationalization of the energy industry, ensuring that power generation and distribution are treated as vital public utilities rather than market commodities. We aim to pursue the path of renewable energy that is directly for the benefit of the people, shifting the paradigm away from the profit-driven framework.

Ngunit paano magiging kaunlaran ang isang proyektong sisira sa kinabukasan ng mga Ayta at iba pang Katutubo?

Hindi kaunlaran ang pagpapalayas sa mga Katutubo para bigyang-daan ang interes ng malalaking negosyo at dayuhang kapangyarihan. Hindi kami papayag na isakripisyo ang mga Ayta para sa Pax Silica!
