🌸CALLING ALL JAPANESE FILIPINO CHILDREN (JFCs)!🌺

The syllable ba (ts) can be found in many a tree of words in both Filipino and Japanese. Ba (1) may mean place, or locality, triangulating it with other words such as basho (5)FF), bahay and bayan to talk about senses of place, home or nationhood.

For JFCs, these words may be uneasy to pin given the reality of living in between jurisdictions and cultures of two nations and carrying this experience as they grow up.

In The Word for World is Ba (15), The O Home (TOH) -an artist collective wherein one of the founders was a migrant worker and with a JFC-pairs with the JFCs organization Maligaya House (MH) to focus on artmaking and community-building.

Here, each and every one is welcome to express themselves through free-flowing discussions and art workshops regardless of skill level or background. And of course, there will be meals and drinks for sharing to bring us closer together, interwoven as ever!

Our second leg of Conversations and Clay was just as powerful, full of meaningful discussions, heartfelt sharing, and creative expression. We explored everything from self-worth to boundaries and healing, all while connecting through art in a truly safe space. We’re deeply grateful for the space we’ve co-created together. A huge thank you to Kristine Chan of Filipino Freethinkers for welcoming us back, and to our incredible co-speakers, Ann Angala (Break the Cycle) and Dr. Margarita Holmes, for their wisdom and vulnerability. Looking forward to continuing this journey of healing, growth, and advocacy through art. 💖

Conversations and Clay kicked off today with powerful conversations, heartfelt sharing, and creative expression. From body image and pleasure to self-care, autonomy, and self-compassion, our first day was filled with courage, connection, rediscovery, and clay. We are honored to be sharing this safe space with everyone. Thank you so much to Filipino Freethinkers for having us over! Thank you so much to everyone who showed up with open hearts and minds, and to our inspiring co-speakers, Ann Angala (Break the Cycle) and Dr Margarita Holmes.

We’re in Seville! 🇪🇸 On Debt Row is here and we're sharing with everyone meaningful and moving art from our communities on how debt hits the Global South. Catch us 29 June to 1 July at Banquetes, AC Hotel Sevilla Forum.

APWLD, together with the ESCR-Net, Debt for Climate, former UN Independent Expert on Debt and Human Rights Juan Pablo Bohoslavsky, and global south artists The O Home from the Philippines and Jairo Alvarez from Argentina, holds 𝙊𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙗𝙩 𝙍𝙤𝙬: 𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵’𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 from 29 June to 1 July 2025 at 📍Banquetes, AC Hotel Sevilla Forum, Seville, Spain.
