Sa ika-54 na anibersaryo ng deklarasyon ng Batas Militar, muling binabalikan sa alaala ang madilim na kabanata ng ating kasaysayan ng mga pinto ng kalayaan na pilit na isinara, mga bintana ng pag-asa na pinatapatan ng kurtina ng takot, at lipunang itinulak sa sulok kung saan ang boses ng nakararami ay pinatahimik. Libu-libong Pilipino ang naaresto, tinortyur, at pinaslang ng diktadurya. Ngunit hindi pa rin nakalilimot ang nakalulunos na pangyayaring ito, dahil patuloy na dinadala ng kasalukuyan ang alaala ng pagnanakaw at pang-aapi.

Sa kasalukuyan, para bang umaagos pa rin ang baha ng katiwalian sa ating lipunan dahil sa gobyernong ubod ng korapsyon at kapabayaan. Ang mahigit bilyon-bilyon na badyet na dapat sana ay maging daan sa kaginhawaan ay patuloy lamang na nananakaw mula sa pondo ng bayan. At muli, ating natatanaw sa kasalukuyang realidad ang pagkakapareho: ang pagsupil at kawalang-pananagutan na tilaโ€™y patuloy pa rin ang pag-agos.

Buong pusong naninindigan ang UP Design Core na ang espasyo ay hindi lamang tungkol sa pisikal na lugar, ngunit ito rin ay sagisag ng dangal ng bawat mamamayang Pilipino. Ang bawat disenyo ay higit pa sa anyo at estetika. Ito rin ay matatag na paninindigan at pagpapaalala na may karapatan ang bawat isa na makaramdam ng laya at kapanatagan sa lipunang kanyang ginagalawan. Ang disenyo ay hindi pagtahimik, kung hindi isang buklod at matining na pananawagan. Higit sa bawat guhit at proyekto, ang UP Design Core ay muling lakas loob na ipinapahayag ang paniniwala na ang bawat tao ay may karapatan sa espasyong ligtas, makatarungan, at may dignidad.

WALANG MAKALILIMOT! ISKOLAR NG BAYAN, WALKOUT!

Noong nakaraang taon, piniling magwalkout ng higit 5000 Iskolar ng Bayan upang ipahiwatig ang mariing pagkundena namin sa pagtapyas ng budget sa edukasyon at malawakang korapsyon mula sa mga anomalyang flood control projects.

At ngayong taon, muling lalabas ang mga Iskolar ng Bayan sa aming mga silid-aralan patungong lansangan upang singilin muli ang rehimeng Marcos-US.

Mga Iskolar ng Bayan, ating ipanawagan:
Lahat ng sangkot, managot!
Pondo sa edukasyon, hindi sa pasismo at korapsyon!
Bahain ng protesta ang papet at korap na rehimeng Marcos!

Nananawagan ang UP Design Core, kasama ang UP Diliman University Student Council, sa agarang pagpapalaya sa limang paralegal na iligal na inaresto, kabilang ang ating mga kapwa Iskolar ng Bayan na sina Kenneth Castor ng UP Office of the Student Regent at RC Placido ng NNARA Youth UPD.

Sa kasalukuyan, kumakalap na ng pambail para sa ating kasama na si Kenneth Castor. Para sa mga nais magbigay ng tulong, maaaring mag-scan ng QR Code sa ibaba upang makapagpaabot ng pinansyal na suporta.
