The Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng Miriam calls for justice and vehemently condemns the brutal killings of Alyssa Alano, RJ Ledesma, and 17 others in Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental.

Alyssa, the incumbent Education and Research Councilor of the UP Diliman University Student Council, along with RJ, represented the brightest of our generation. They were fellow student and youth leaders who selflessly dedicated their energies, knowledge, and hearts to the marginalized. Sa kabila ng panganib, hindi sila nag-atubiling makiisa sa pakikibaka ng mga magsasaka sa Negros para sa lupa at katarungan.

Their presence in the fields was a testament to the fact that the struggle of the peasantry is the struggle of the youth. Their lives serve as a blueprint for the service we must continue to render.

There can be no peace without genuine justice. We call on our fellow student councils and organizations to break the silence and stand in firm solidarity against this culture of impunity.

We demand accountability and thorough investigation for those responsible.

The Junior Financial Executives, in collaboration with the Senior Year Council, successfully held "𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤" last March 2, 2026, at the Miriam College Little Theater. The event gathered students and faculty members from the Higher Education Unit for an engaging afternoon focused on building essential financial knowledge and awareness.

The program featured Mr. Andro Leo Beltran, Vice President and Head of the Digital Solutions and Investor Engagement Division of FirstMetroSec, who shared practical insights on budgeting, smart financial habits, and the basics of stock investing. Through interactive discussions and activities, participants were encouraged to reflect on their financial behaviors and learn strategies for managing their money wisely.

In line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4: Quality Education and 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, the talk aimed to equip students with practical financial management skills that they can apply in their daily lives and future careers.
More than just a lecture, the event highlighted the collaborative spirit of the Miriam College community in promoting financial literacy and empowering students to become responsible and informed decision-makers when it comes to their finances.
