âJesus said to them, âThey need not go away; you give them something to eat.â They said to him, âWe have only five loaves here and two fish.â And he said, âBring them here to me.ââ â Matthew 14:16-18 (ESV)
Christ, Our Source and Provider
In ministry, we are merely instruments responding to Christâs call with faith. The work is His, and so is the provision. When Jesus fed the 5,000, He tested Philip, who saw only the limitations of their resources. Andrew offered what seemed insignificantâa boyâs two fish and five loavesâbut Christ demonstrated that even the smallest offering becomes abundant in His hands. This miracle wasn't about the greatness of our faith but about the greatness of Christ, who is the true source. When we think we are the source, we may be tempted to boast in our successes. But true humility comes from knowing that Christ provides everything. Itâs okay to be practical, but there is a deeper blessing in experiencing the provision of Christ, even when resources seem limited. In Christ, there is no delay in ministry, for He is the source of all we need.
