HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

Did you know that there is a difference between the Disability Pride Flag and the Disability-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag?

While the Disability Pride Flag represents the strength, resilience, and contributions of persons with disabilities, the Disability-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag highlights the importance of ensuring that persons with disabilities are visible and included within the broader movement for LGBTQIA+ equality.

At NORFIL Foundation, we believe that every child and every individual deserves to be seen, respected, protected, and empowered, regardless of disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, or background.

This Pride Month, let us continue building communities where everyone belongs and where diversity is celebrated in all its forms. 🌈✨

LOOK: Investing in Our People, Strengthening Our Impact

NORFIL Foundation is currently conducting a 3-Day Staff Development Training for 30 staff members of the Enabling Communities for Inclusion (ECFI) Program from our project sites in Ilocos Sur, Biliran, and Northern Samar.

Led by its Program Manager Florian C. De Jesus, the training provides an important opportunity for our ECFI team to revisit and strengthen their understanding of the ECFI Program, including its goals, objectives, and implementation phases.

It also serves as a venue to deepen their knowledge of key topics that guide our work, including Child Protection and Safeguarding, Pre-conditions for Disability Inclusion, Gender Standards, Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID), advocacy, community mobilization, and the various CBID components covering health, education, livelihood, accessibility, social inclusion, mental health, disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction and management, and self-help groups.

At NORFIL Foundation, we believe that staff development is essential to delivering quality and meaningful services. By continuously enhancing the knowledge, skills, and commitment of our staff, we strengthen our ability to support children and persons with disabilities, their families, and communities.
At NORFIL, we learn, grow, and create inclusive communities together.

The NORFIL ECFI Program is being implemented in partnership with 30 local government units across the provinces of Ilocos Sur, Northern Samar, Biliran, and Leyte, with support from the Australian Government through ANCP and CBM Global Philippines.

LOOK: K3 Camp 2026 Kicks Off with Learning and Skills Development Activities

The K3 Camp: Karunungan, Karapatan at Kakayahan (K3) officially kicked off on May 26, 2026, bringing together 35 youth with disabilities from Biliran and Leyte.

Guided by the theme ā€œEmbracing Diversity, Empowering Every Ability,ā€ the three-day camp aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge, skills, rights awareness, and social connections through engaging learning experiences.

The opening day featured a Child Protection and Safeguarding session empowering participants with knowledge about their rights, personal safety, and protection from abuse, exploitation, and discrimination. Participants also joined team-building activities, including participant ID design, banner making, and group cheer creation, which fostered teamwork, creativity, and
camaraderie.

A major highlight was the Creative Arts Workshop, where campers explored flower-making, oil pastel painting, bookmark-making, and crochet. These hands-on activities helped develop practical skills while showcasing the participants' talents and creativity.

The day concluded with preparations for the Group Talent Night and a Social Night, providing opportunities for friendship, interaction, and confidence-building among youth from different municipalities and provinces.

This initiative is an integral part of NORFIL’s ECFI Program, implemented in the provinces of Ilocos Sur, Northern Samar, Biliran, and Leyte. The program is supported by the Australian Government through ANCP and CBM Global Philippines.

Stay tuned for highlights from Day 2 and Day 3 as the K3 Camp journey continues!

One Vision, Four Countries, One Table

From May 18 to 22, the teams behind the Meaningful Youth Participation (MYP) and Body Talk (BT) 2.0 projects — both under the NORFIL Building Effective Networks (BEN) Program — finally gathered face-to-face for a week of collaboration, learning, and shared purpose.

Partners from Liliane Fonds (Netherlands), NORFIL Foundation, Inc. (Philippines), NLR Indonesia, and Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) Bangladesh came together to align timelines, strengthen coordination, and plan the road ahead.

More than meetings and reports, this gathering served as a reminder of why we do this work: to create meaningful opportunities with and for young people with disabilities, whose voices and leadership continue to inspire us every day.

Together, we are building stronger networks, deeper partnerships, and a more inclusive future across borders.
