This marked the end of Concordia: Diplomacy Week 2025, providing students with significant avenues to enhance their grasp of international affairs, refine their capacities for negotiation, and explore various career trajectories in governance, research, and public service.

ICYMI: D2 | On October 15โ€“16, 2025, a delegation from the Miriam College Department of Global Affairs and Diplomacyโ€”including Department Chairperson Dr. Robert Frederick Hayden Jr., Dr. Jeanette Isabelle V. Loanzon of the National Security Council, and former Communications Director Ms. Lynda C. As a collaborative effort between Miriam College, the UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies, and the Ateneo Policy Center, the summit convened a diverse group of specialists to analyze the Philippines' strategic trajectory and national security in an era of global transition.

On the second day, the focus shifted to economic resilience through sectoral and trade lenses, featuring insights from Edith Yotoko-Villanueva, President and COO of the Sugar Industry Foundation; Dr. Annette Balaoing-Pelkmans, Program Convenor for UP CIDSโ€™s Chains for Change initiative; and Miriam College alumna and former International Studies Society (ISSoc) President Anya Cruz. These experts examined how specific industries and trade initiatives can strengthen the nationโ€™s financial stability.

The conference culminated in a final plenary on Indo-Pacific security and strategic alignment, moderated by Dr. Robin Michael Garcia of the Ateneo School of Government. This high-level discussion brought together an international panel, including Dr. Jyun-Yi Lee, Associate Research Fellow at the Institute for National Defense and Security Research; VAdm Fumio Ota (Ret.), Senior Fellow at the Japan Institute for National Fundamentals; RAdm Rommel Jude Ong (Ret.), Senior Research Fellow at the Ateneo Policy Center; and Dr. Darren J. Lim, Senior Lecturer at the Australian National University, to analyze regional defense and cooperation.

Serving as a catalyst for collective insight, the event empowered participants to address the countryโ€™s evolving security and strategic needs through forward-thinking, collaborative discussion.
