The Beginning
In 1980, a multidisciplinary group of professionals and health and family planning advocates felt that women's health can only be achieved if all aspects of her health needs were met. The original members of the Board of Trustees were: Dr. Julita Alfonso Ms. Nora Protacio Dr. Lydia Alfonso Dr. Ledevina Cariño Mr. Eduardo Borje Jr. Francisco Perez Dr. Amelia Marañon Dr. Nilo Roa Mr. Amor Oribello Dr. Pedro Solis Mr. Renato Andre Paraan Ms. Carrie Lorrenzana Atty. Cesar Borje Mr. Ed Nathan Drillon Dr. Marilyn Lorenzo Dr. Benilda Aquino Mr.Benjamin De Leon Mr. Oscar Escobar with Dr. Trinidad Gomez as Executive Director. Its main clinic was at 1589 Crispina Building, Quezon Avenue, Q.C. with outreach clinics at Baseco, Barangays 178 in Camarin, Caloocan, Gulod in Novaliches, UP Campus and San Dionisio in Paranaque. It helped establish other organizations like Alliance for Women's Health, KALAKASAN, PNGOC, Remedios AIDS Foundation, WomanHealth, ReproCen, Reproductive Rights Resource Group and the Philippine Chapter of APNEC.
