On April 20, 2026, from 10:00 AM onwards, at the NIGS Seminar Room, the NIGS Lecture Series will feature a talk from Sir Mark Gibson on "Geothermal Today: Insights from a New Zealand Perspective."

Mark Gibson is the Senior Business Development Manager at Earth Sciences New Zealand (formerly GNS Science), specializing in geothermal energy initiatives. Passionate about bridging science with practical solutions, he has over three years of experience at GNS Science, where he fostered business partnerships in the geothermal sector based in Wairakei, Taupo. Previously, he served as a science teacher and company director, drawing from his background in marine and aquatic science to advocate for clean energy advancements.

This event is in partnership with the National Institute of Geological Sciences and the Rushurgent Working Group.
