ABOUT THE COMPOSER | Maria Sophia V. Roldan a Young Voice in Filipino Composition 💎

Maria Sophia V. Roldan is a Filipino composer, singer, and pianist who has been performing since age six on international stages across Asia, the USA, and Europe. In 2024, she got accepted at the inaugural Summer Composition Program at Juilliard, refining her skills and artistic voice. That year, her composition for violin and piano
premiered at Juilliard’s Morse Hall and at the University of Santo Tomas Central Seminary for the Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP) 5th-anniversary concert, Cantantes in Itinere.

Her works have been featured in EMPOWER, a National Women’s Month concert by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Bisita at Awit ng Pag-asa Choral Pilgrimage by YVP, and the Taipei International Choral Festival. She was also commissioned to write for the Lux Spei Treble Choir Festival and the music for the
canonization of St. Carlo Acutis, produced by the Jesuit Music Ministry, performed by YVP, and featured in the ABS-CBN documentary God’s Influencer.

As a member and soloist of the Young Voices of the Philippines, she performed solo during the choir’s Carnegie Hall debut in July 2023 and contributed to their success at the 12th Golden Gate International Choral Festival. Her accomplishments include being a featured soloist in award-winning projects like Awit Awards, and winning First Prize in the Art Song category at Malaysia’s Voices in Bloom International Competition in 2021, along with receiving the NCCA's "Ani ng Dangal" award in 2022. Currently a Senior High School student at the University of Santo Tomas, she is cultivating a unique artistic identity that honors her Filipino heritage.
