ANGAT KABATAAN PILIPINAS – OPISYAL NA PAHAYAG

Ang Angat Kabataan Pilipinas ay gumagalang sa pahayag ni Jonvic Remulla, Kalihim ng Department of the Interior and Local Government, kaugnay ng panukalang pag-abolish sa Sangguniang Kabataan bunsod ng obserbasyong may ilang halal na opisyal na hindi na aktibong nagseserbisyo matapos ang isa hanggang dalawang taon sa kanilang termino.

Gayunman, mariin naming binibigyang-diin na ang suliranin ay hindi ang mismong institusyon ng SK, kundi ang kakulangan sa sapat na suporta, patuloy na pagsasanay, at epektibong mekanismo ng pananagutan para sa mga halal na kabataang lider. Sa halip na tuluyang buwagin ang SK, naniniwala ang Angat Kabataan Pilipinas na mas makabubuti ang reporma at pagpapalakas ng sistema upang matiyak ang tunay na paglilingkod at pananagutan.

Iminumungkahi namin ang mga sumusunod:

1. Mas mahigpit at tuloy-tuloy na leadership at governance training para sa lahat ng SK officials.

2. Mas malinaw na performance monitoring at accountability mechanisms upang matiyak ang aktibong serbisyo sa buong termino.

3. Mas aktibong paggabay ng LGUs at national agencies upang masuportahan ang mga proyekto ng kabataan.

4. Pagpapalakas ng partisipasyon ng kabataan sa pagbalangkas at pagpapatupad ng mga programang tumutugon sa kanilang tunay na pangangailangan.

Ang SK ay nananatiling mahalagang plataporma para sa paghubog ng susunod na henerasyon ng mga lider. Ang pag-abolish nito ay maaaring magbunga ng pagkawala ng boses at representasyon ng kabataan sa lokal na pamahalaan. Sa halip, sama-sama nating ayusin, palakasin, at panagutin ang institusyon para sa mas makabuluhang serbisyo publiko.

On the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, Angat Kabataan Pilipinas honors the courage of Filipinos who stood together to reclaim democracy through unity, peaceful action, and hope. EDSA reminds us that real power lives in an awakened citizenry—especially the youth—who choose truth over fear and service over silence.

As today’s generation faces new challenges—disinformation, inequality, and threats to democratic values—we carry forward the spirit of EDSA by standing firm for human rights, accountability, and inclusive progress. The revolution did not end in 1986; it lives on in every young Filipino who speaks up, organizes, and works for a just and compassionate nation.

May the legacy of EDSA continue to inspire us to rise, participate, and lead.

As an organization of young Filipinos committed to nation-building, accountability, and good governance, we affirm that public office is a public trust. No individual—regardless of position or influence—is above the Constitution and the rule of law.

At a time when democratic institutions are under strain, the youth have a responsibility to stand up, speak out, and take action. The impeachment process is a constitutional mechanism meant to uphold accountability, protect democratic values, and ensure that public officials remain answerable to the people they serve.

We stand in solidarity with all sectors calling for transparency, truth, and justice. Angat Kabataan Pilipinas believes that safeguarding democracy today is a duty owed to future generations.

The youth will not be silent.

Rep. Atty. Renee Louise Co (KABATAAN PARTYLIST).

Ang naturang reklamo ay naglalatag ng mabibigat na alegasyon na nangangailangan ng malinaw na paliwanag at masusing imbestigasyon—lalo na sa usapin ng pananagutan sa paggamit ng kapangyarihan, paggalang sa Konstitusyon, at integridad ng pampublikong opisina. Hindi ito usapin ng pulitika ng kulay, kundi ng paninindigan para sa transparency at rule of law.

Bahagi rin ng isinumiteng batayan ang pahayag ni Madriaga, na nagbigay-linaw sa mga isyung hindi maaaring balewalain. Ang kanyang statement, kasama ng iba pang dokumento at testimonya, ay nagpapakita ng pangangailangang dinggin ng taumbayan at ng Kongreso ang mga seryosong tanong na ibinabato sa ikalawang pinakamataas na opisyal ng bansa.
