Reading Parameters Using a Diagnostic Tool Before and After Throttle Body Cleaning

Understanding how to use a diagnostic tool is an essential skill in Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing. Before cleaning the throttle body, technicians should first connect the diagnostic scanner to the motorcycle's ECU to read and record the engine parameters. This provides the current condition of the fuel injection system and helps identify any existing faults before maintenance begins.

Parameters commonly checked include:

Engine RPM (Idle Speed)
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT)
Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
Intake Air Pressure (MAP)
Battery Voltage
Injector Operation
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
Throttle Body Cleaning

The throttle body controls the amount of air entering the engine. Over time, carbon deposits, oil v***r, and dirt accumulate around the throttle valve, which can cause:

Unstable or rough idling
Poor throttle response
Increased fuel consumption
Engine hesitation
Hard starting

Cleaning the throttle body removes these deposits, allowing smooth airflow and proper throttle operation.

Reading Parameters After Cleaning

After cleaning, reconnect the diagnostic tool and compare the new readings with the initial data. Observe if:

Idle RPM becomes stable.
TPS values respond smoothly during throttle operation.
Airflow readings return to normal.
No Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) remain.
Engine response becomes smoother and more responsive.
Importance of the Procedure

Using a diagnostic tool before and after throttle body cleaning allows technicians to:

Verify the effectiveness of the maintenance.
Detect sensor or system problems early.
Prevent unnecessary replacement of parts.
Ensure accurate diagnosis and proper engine performance.

"A skilled technician doesn't rely on guesswork—he relies on accurate diagnosis, proper procedures, and verified results."

Another Successful Community Charity Ride with MSE Riders Club! 🏍️❤️July 26,2026

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in another meaningful Community Charity Ride held in Brgy. Pintong Bukawe, San Mateo, Rizal.

Together, we provided FREE Motorcycle Maintenance and Basic Service to help ensure the safety and reliability of our fellow riders' motorcycles.

After the service activity, our team continued our mission by visiting Zeflany Mountain, where we distributed raincoats and slippers to the children. Seeing their smiles reminds us that even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference.

We sincerely thank all our members, volunteers, and supporters who made this outreach possible. Your dedication and compassion continue to inspire our mission of serving both riders and the community.

"True success is not measured by what we gain, but by how many lives we touch through service, kindness, and unity."
