Health advocates are calling on Congress to impose a higher, uniform tax on v**e products to help make them less accessible and less affordable, especially to young people. The proposed ₱72.93 rate by 2027, they say, may still not be enough to curb youth access.

Vapes are not harmless, and making ni****ne products less affordable is one important public health measure to help prevent youth va**ng.

Public health advocates are urging Congress to impose a tax of at least P80 on v***r products, saying higher taxes are needed to discourage va**ng among young Filipinos and prevent long-term health costs.

HealthJustice Philippines joins the to***co control community in mourning the passing of Dr. Domilyn C. Villarreiz, a true champion of smoke-free communities and public health.

Dr. Domz was instrumental in making Davao City a leader in to***co control. As one of the pioneers behind its smoke-free movement, her work went far beyond Davao, inspiring smoke-free initiatives across the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region.

We remember sitting down with Dr. Domz in Davao for an interview on the city’s smoke-free journey. it was an opportunity to listen to someone who had devoted so much of her life to the advocacy and her remarkable commitment to public health.

Dr. Domz has steadfastly guided and nurtured to***co control champions in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region, with the resolve of protecting more people from the harms of to***co and ensuring that the future generations will also have a steady advocate in their midst.

We are grateful to have shared that moment with her and to have learned from her work.

Her legacy lives on in every smoke-free community, every policy defended, and every advocate who continues the fight for a healthier Philippines.

Rest in peace, Dr. Domz.

Together, we can build a future where every Filipino child grows up free from the harms of to***co and va**ng.
