Sino ba talaga ang may responsibilidad?

The images from the Redemptorist Water Channel are disturbing: a waterway overwhelmed by plastic, garbage and debris after days of heavy rain.

MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III says government will clean it—but asks an equally important question:

Pagkatapos linisin, paano natin sisiguraduhin na hindi na ito babalik sa ganito?

So we want to hear from YOU.

🇵🇭🤝🇮🇱 69 YEARS OF PHILIPPINES–ISRAEL FRIENDSHIP
Friendship. Partnership. Purpose.

Today, The International Ecotourism Society Philippines (TIESPHI) joins in commemorating the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Israel, whose formal diplomatic relations were established on August 9, 1957.

This friendship, however, has roots that reach even further back. The Philippines voted in favor of the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine and is also remembered for President Manuel L. Quezon’s efforts to provide refuge to Jewish people fleeing persecution in Europe.

For nearly seven decades of diplomatic relations, our two nations have strengthened cooperation in areas such as agriculture, water management, innovation, education, labor, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.

🌿 And there is much that ecotourism can learn from this friendship.

Israel has developed globally recognized approaches to water conservation, desert agriculture, environmental technology, and making productive use of limited natural resources. For an archipelagic and biodiversity-rich country like the Philippines, these experiences can inspire conversations on how tourism destinations can become more resilient, resource-efficient, and sustainable.

At the same time, the Philippines offers extraordinary lessons through our marine biodiversity, forests, mountains, indigenous cultures, protected landscapes and seascapes, and community-based tourism.

Ecotourism gives our friendship another meaningful bridge: people learning from people, while respecting culture and protecting creation.

As TIESPHI commemorates this milestone, may we continue to encourage partnerships that promote:

🌱 Sustainable and responsible tourism
💧 Water and environmental conservation
🌾 Climate-smart and sustainable agriculture
🤝 Cultural and knowledge exchange
🏞️ Protection of natural and cultural heritage
