📣 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS | Asia World Habitat Day Celebration 2026

Collective Housing Awards for Outstanding Community-Led Collective Housing Projects in Asia

From 25–29 October 2026, the Asian Coalition for Housing Rights (ACHR) will recognize exemplary community-led housing initiatives across Asia that demonstrate the power of collective action in creating inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities.

PACSII, HPFPI, and TAMPEI invite communities and partner organizations to submit their projects for consideration in the Philippine selection process, where the top five to six projects will be selected by a national jury and endorsed for international consideration.

PACSII and other Philippine Alliance Members supported the HPFPI in facilitating the 2026 Bicol Regional Core Group meeting, marking a significant step toward rebuilding and strengthening our community networks in the region.

Over 50 participants from Albay, Camarines Norte, and NCR joined the 3-day workshop. Highlights include:

🏡 Site visits to HPFPI communities in Albay
🌳 Orientation on the Philippine Alliance network and key projects implemented throughout the country, including the GA-LLA and Collective Housing Project, emphasizing the importance of collective action in addressing housing and climate challenges
📖 Consultation and orientation on the new National Savings Policy and National Code of Policies of the Homeless People's Federation

📣 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞: 𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗦𝗜𝗜 𝗰𝗼-𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟭-𝟭𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀

Nearly 400 participants from 67 countries, representing local community organizations, Indigenous People’s organizations, research institutes, governments, foundations, and multilateral agencies came together to share their experiences and learn from one another, showcasing locally-led climate adaptation solutions from around the world and highlighting the many ways that local communities and actors have been building their resilience to the impacts of climate change.

During the 4-day conference, PACSII and other Philippine Alliance (PA) members – HPFPI, TAMPEI, and LinkBuild – played significant roles and shared their insights during the many different parallel sessions and roundtable discussions, particularly the foundational role of secure tenure and adequate housing in climate resilience. The Philippine Alliance was joined by other affiliates from the Slum Dwellers International (SDI) network led by SDI's Executive Director Beth Chitekwe-Biti.

🌇 Ericka Lynne Nava, PACSII’s Assistant Executive Director, gave one of the opening speeches, drawing attention to actors co-opting the language of inclusivity without actualizing genuine locally-led decision-making and the danger this poses to our shared goal of building resilience for all, yet also recognizing the hope that the CBA community provides to catalyze change

🏛️ Ruby Haddad, HPFPI’s National Coordinator, sat in the opening plenary to set expectations for the rest of the event, challenging governments and funders to "walk the talk" and ensure climate finance reaches the most vulnerable

📑 Theresa Carampatana, HPFPI Regional Coordinator, joined other organizations in the Theme Summary panel to synthesize key insights from the parallel sessions, pushing for CBA to become an "incubation" platform where solutions from the ground can be supported and scaled

🤝 Beth Chitekwe-Biti, SDI Executive Director, joined the closing panel and emphasized that local knowledge, evidence, and agency are the foundations for effective adaptation, and the strengths that communities have built through on-the-ground action must be integrated and leveraged

🎨 Anya Galvez, HPFPI youth member, created this year's commemorative artwork which represents the idea of a "community": different and diverse but nevertheless linked by a common goal

🏡 The Philippine Alliance also participated in side events such as a poster contest, with PACSII's "Grounded" poster on the Munting Nayon community and TAMPEI’s RURBANISE poster winning, and a visual narratives night, where a documentary on one of the housing projects was shown.

PACSII co-hosted this year’s CBA conference with the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and Manila Observatory.

📢 WE ARE HIRING: PROJECT ASSISTANT (6-Month Contract)

The Philippine Action for Community-Led Shelter Initiatives, Inc. (PACSII) is looking for a Project Assistant to support the implementation of community-led development, climate resilience, housing, and capacity-building projects across the Philippines.

Position: Project Assistant

Contract Duration: Six (6) Months, renewable subject to project needs and performance
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (at least twice weekly reporting at the PACSII Office in Tandang Sora, Quezon City, with fieldwork as required)
Reports To: Program Manager
Starting Date: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide administrative, logistical, and technical support to project implementation.
- Assist in organizing meetings, trainings, workshops, and community activities.
- Prepare project documentation, minutes, reports, and presentations.
- Coordinate with community leaders, partner organizations, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Support monitoring, data gathering, and project reporting requirements.
- Maintain organized project files and records.
- Assist in procurement, travel arrangements, and activity preparations.
- Perform other cross-project-related tasks assigned by the Program Manager.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Development Studies, Public Administration, Environmental Planning, or related fields.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience in NGO, community development, housing, climate adaptation, or grassroots development work is an advantage.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Willing to travel and conduct fieldwork when necessary.
