As part of its commitment to promoting a culture of safety and preparedness, 𝘿𝘾𝙇𝘾 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 in the 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹 (𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗗) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

The activity was led by the 𝗗𝗖𝗟𝗖 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺, together with 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 who handles the documentation, to strengthen awareness, coordination, and emergency response readiness among members of the academic community.

During the drill, 𝙫𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙, including:

• Practicing the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” earthquake safety procedure
• Conducting search and rescue operations
• Establishing and organizing the Incident Command Center and its essential resources
• Performing area inspection and follow-up assessment of the surroundings
• Strengthening teamwork and coordination among response units
• Recording timelines, actions taken, and key observations throughout the exercise

The exercise provided an opportunity to evaluate existing preparedness plans, enhance response capabilities, and identify areas for further improvement.

Serving as a vital step toward the upcoming full-scale earthquake drills in the succeeding quarters of 2026, the activity also reinforced the institution’s preparedness efforts for large-scale seismic events, including the anticipated “The Big One.”

They 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 carrying not only diplomas, but also memories of 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚.

📍 First Quarter Nationwide Drill

DCLC participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) as part of the country’s continuous effort to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.

The activity was spearheaded by the𝗗𝗖𝗟𝗖 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺, together with the Junior Disaster Team, ensuring the active participation of the community in promoting safety and readiness.

During the drill, 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱, including:
• Earthquake response procedures
• Fire response and safety measures
• Search and rescue operations
• Safety and evacuation protocols
• Emergency communication systems

The entire exercise was properly evaluated and documented to assess response efficiency and identify areas for improvement.

This activity also served as a preliminary exercise in preparation for the full-scale earthquake drills scheduled in the succeeding quarters of 2026, while strengthening coordination among national and regional response systems in the event of a high-magnitude earthquake scenario known as “The Big One.”

The 𝗗𝗖𝗟𝗖 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 took part in a meaningful 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 organized by the Office of Student Affairs and Community Services, featuring an inspiring session by 𝗕𝗿𝗼. 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗩. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗼 entitled “𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁: 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”

The talk emphasized that true leadership begins with character and service.
