Multiply-Ed Philippines

Multiply-Ed Philippines MultiplY-Ed is a youth-led, multi-sectoral, and multi-level approach to monitoring education.

Multiply-Ed or X-Ed is a project of the Center for Youth Advocacy and Networking (CYAN) and Government Watch (G-Watch) that aims to set up a youth-led, multi-sectoral, and multi-level monitoring of education in the time of COVID-19. The project aims to improve transparency, participation, and accountability in various levels of education governance, particularly in implementing learning continuity plans for Senior High Schools and the transition to face-to-face classes post-COVID.

LIVE UPDATES | NCR is gearing up for change!

The Youth-Led Education Reform Conference in NCR has officially begun. We’re set to hear the latest X-Ed monitoring findings and the responses of duty-bearers as we work to bridge critical gaps in education.

As YERC goes to NCR, we are firm that SRHR is an education issue ✊

Did you know that nearly 60% of school dropouts among girls in the Philippines are linked to early pregnancy? With an average of 538 babies born to teenage mothers daily, this isn't just a health concern, it is a national social emergency that disrupts the future of our learners.

While schools in NCR are integrating Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), the reality on the ground tells a more complex story. From rising pregnancy rates in the 10–14 age group to the critical lack of access to reproductive health services without parental consent, the barriers for young people remain high.

This April 22, as part of the in NCR, we are creating a dedicated space for learners from Quezon City and Pasig City to:

✅ Discuss the gaps in SRHR implementation.
✅ Address the link between early pregnancy and school dropouts.
✅ Demand stronger support and protection for young female learners.

Youth-led accountability means ensuring that our right to health and our right to education go hand-in-hand. It’s time to break the stigma and weave a safer, more informed future for every student. ✊🌸

Corruption has no place in education.

From overpriced laptops to “palakasan” and selling of positions, corruption is real, and we talked about it head-on.

In Day 2 of Youth-Led Education Reform Regional Conference in BARMM, youth leaders, educators, LGUs, and CSOs came together for the Multiply-Ed Learning Collaborative and Advocacy Forum on Anti-Corruption in Education to call it out, break it down, and most importantly, act on it.

In this activity, we unpacked the different faces of corruption in education, looked at what’s working (and what’s not) in fighting it, and proved that students are not just beneficiaries. They are powerful agents of accountability.

We thank Mr. Mohammad Abqary Alon from the Office of the Chief Minister and Mr. Mark Anthony Benigno for sharing their perspectives on corruption from the lenses of the government and education sectors.

LIVE UPDATES | “Every single time that I am in Cotabato, I only have one expectation - to be inspired. I want Bangsamoro to succeed. Because I want you to prove that a revolution to be autonomous can bring about a good governance.”

Ms Joy Aceron, Convener-Director of Government Watch, opened the program with a hopeful message.

“In moment such as this that we would ask ‘What is the point of giving our best despite the many people that is corrupt?’. Simple - we do it for our faith and ourselves. We owe it to God. A life that has no integrity is not worth living.“

Meanwhile, Mark Alcazar, Project Officer for Organizing, shares how Multiply-Ed has grown. In BARMM, we look at our history to help us navigate a path toward an education system that honors our identity and rights.

Transparency, Participation, Accountability and the X-Ed Way!

During the briefing on effective CSO-government engagement in General Santos City, participants learned about the basics of people participation, social accountability, and Multiply-Ed strategies.

From understanding our roles as citizens to exploring concrete ways to engage with government, the session highlighted that meaningful change happens when communities are informed, organized, and empowered to act.

Patuloy nating isulong ang boses ng mamamayan at palakasin ang pakikilahok, lalo na ng mga kabataan, sa pamamahala.
