Liwanag Kyusi was officially inaugurated as a civil society organization (CSO) in July 2022. The group was formally established when the Kakampinks from Bago Bantay, Quezon City decided to continue the advocacies they initiated during the presidential campaign which ran from November 2021 to May 2022.
Initially conducting street seminars on Voter's Education in the early months of 2022, the group expanded its outreach programs as the organization grew to encompass more members from various parts of Quezon City. On 1 July 2022, the organization was christened LIWANAG KYUSI (LK) and was formally launched as a CSO, coinciding with the official launch of ANGAT BUHAY as an NGO on the same day Atty. Leni Robredo's term as Vice President of the Philippines concluded.
The official page of LK was created on 6 July 2022 to promote the organization's inaugural flagship program โ TULONG DUNONG (formerly known as Ayuda Eskwela), wherein LK volunteers distributed school bags and supplies to elementary students in Bago Bantay (9 July 2022) and Brgy. Sto. Domingo (31 July 2022). Even before their formal establishment as a CSO, on 3 June 2022, the volunteers (then known as GRASSMATES for Leni-Kiko and TROPAng Sto. Cristo) organized relief operations for those affected by the fire in Brgy. Mariblo, QC District 1.
Over the past four years, LK has developed more impactful outreach programs, including their flagship initiatives:
LIBRO AT LARUAN PARA SA KABATAAN
MASELANG USAPAN
LIWANAG COMMUNITY FAIR
KALINGA CARAVAN
In 2023, LK became one of the pioneer members of Angat Buhay's Angat Bayanihan Volunteer Network (ABVN), where their volunteerism was fortified through linkages and partnerships with NGOs and CSOs sharing similar values and advocacies.
On its fourth anniversary, LK volunteers pledge to continue the fight (tuloy ang laban), continue to stand up against injustice (tuloy ang pagtindig), and continue to illuminate Kyusi and beyond (tuloy ang liwanag).
