RBI is currently conducting the third day of our "Computer-Eyes" basic computer training for high school students and newly blind adults in the Visayas region at the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 7 Training Center. This training runs from May 4–15, 2026.
A huge thank you to DICT Region 7 for their ongoing partnership and to the Overbrook-Nippon Network on Educational Technology (ON-NET) for 25 years of continuous support

Through this training, students with visual impairment are gaining the essential tools to thrive in a digital-first world. The training focuses on specialized screen readers and assistive technologies that foster independent learning. Also, students are building the confidence to manage their lessons on their own terms, securing a future where they no longer have to rely on sighted assistance to succeed.

RBI is delighted to be back at the National Council on Disability Affairs - Disability Resource and Development Center (NCDA-DRDC) for our annual "Computer-Eyes," a basic computer training for high school students and newly blind adults with visual impairment. This two-week event, running from April 20 to May 1, is made possible through our partnership with NCDA, and we are deeply grateful for their continued support.

This training is an opportunity for the participants to gain hands-on experience with screen readers and modern technology, building the self-assurance they need to navigate the world independently. By mastering these digital tools, our students can keep pace with their sighted peers, study with efficiency, and pursue their dreams with confidence.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our long-time partner, the Overbrook-Nippon Network on Educational Technology (ON-NET), for 25 consecutive years of unwavering support for our "Computer-Eyes" training project.

Our warmest congratulations to our longtime partner, Sutherland Philippines, for once more championing inclusivity and the professional capabilities of individuals with visual impairments. Your initiative serves as a powerful testament that disability is not a barrier to securing meaningful and decent employment in the fields of technology or the BPO sectors.
Congratulations also to another batch of hired professionals—we wish you continued success and growth in your careers.

On February 3, 2026, our team headed to Future Vision Home to monitor participants of the Braille Training under Project: Beyond the Dots, in partnership with TELUS Digital Philippines.

This monitoring activity allowed us to check in on our learners’ progress, assess how well they are applying their Braille skills, and identify areas where additional support may be needed. More importantly, it gave us the chance to listen to their experiences and address challenges, thereby strengthening our approach to inclusive learning.

Each session brings us closer to our goal: empowering persons with visual impairment with functional literacy and greater independence. We are encouraged by the dedication of the participants and their parents who continue to join hands with us to make learning accessible, meaningful, and transformative.

Our heartfelt thanks to TELUS for believing in this initiative and helping us go beyond the dots —one learner at a time.

RBI on One PH’s Pamilyang Pilipino

We are grateful to share that Resources for the Blind, Inc. was featured on Pamilyang Pilipino with Julius and Tintin Babao through an insightful interview with Ms. Lorinda De Vera-Ang, Head of RBI’s Resource Development Department.

During the discussion, RBI highlighted its programs and services that empower persons who are blind and visually impaired —from access to Braille and accessible reading materials, education and skills development, to livelihood support and community inclusion.

The conversation underscored the importance of building an inclusive society where persons with visual impairment are given opportunities to live with dignity, independence, and purpose.

Thank you, Sir Julius Babao, Maám Christine Babao and One PH team for providing a platform to amplify the voices of the blind community and to help raise awareness about inclusion and accessibility for all.

Together, as one Filipino family, we can help create a more inclusive and compassionate society. 💙👁‍🗨️
