In its 4th year, the Rotary Club of Cubao Edsa proudly presents "Cottolengo, We Care," a club service project aimed at supporting and uplifting SPED (Special Education) students at Cottolengo Filipino, as well as other patients facing various challenges.
Under the leadership of HCP Ron G. Serrano and Club Service Chair, PP Tess Alacar Tan, our project focuses on providing comprehensive assistance to enhance the lives of these individuals. During our recent visit, we distributed Android Tablets to aid SPED students in their educational journey. These tablets serve as valuable tools for learning and communication, empowering students with special needs to explore and engage with educational content in innovative ways.
Recognizing the importance of a conducive learning environment, we also supplied school materials such as coloring materials. These items are carefully selected to cater to the unique learning styles and sensory needs of SPED students, facilitating a more enriching and inclusive educational experience.
Our engagement with the children extended beyond academic support. We took the time to interact with them, demonstrating the effective use of the tablets and engaging in meaningful conversations about their daily routines and experiences. Additionally, we visited other patients, including Angelo, whose story serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by individuals with special needs and other health conditions.
In addition to educational support, we addressed the essential needs of the institution by donating a variety of provisions, including fruits, bread, honey, frozen food items, sacks of rice, and canned goods. These contributions, made possible through the generosity of our club members, aim to alleviate the daily operational challenges faced by Cottolengo Filipino.
However, our visit also shed light on the ongoing financial struggles encountered by the orphanage. Despite our efforts and those of other supportive individuals and organizations, Cottolengo continues to grapple with the burden of maintaining facilities, providing essential care, and meeting the medical needs of its residents, often with limited support from government resources.
We invite you to join us in our mission to spread love, compassion, and support at Cottolengo Filipino. Your visit, donations, and acts of kindness can make a tangible difference in the lives of these children and patients.
Together, let us work towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment where every individual, regardless of their abilities or challenges, can thrive and lead fulfilling lives.
