A Milestone Afternoon: ADI Philippines 1st Quarterly Meeting

The Academy of Dentistry International - Republic of the Philippines Section ADI Philippines successfully held its 1st Quarterly Meeting last Saturday, March 7, at the Unilab Bayanihan Center. It was an afternoon dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, scientific advancement, and the honoring of dental leadership.

Scientific Highlights:

We were privileged to hear from two of our esteemed Active Members, who shared their cutting-edge research and clinical insights:

• Dr. Regine Stelle S. Rodriguez presented her fascinating work on the "Characterization of Eggshell Derived Hydroxyapatite and its Biocompatibility in Oryctolagus Cuniculus."

• Dr. Marie Gertrude L. Tuscano provided a deep dive into clinical excellence with her lecture on "The Hybrid Layer in Composite Restorations."

A Historic Achievement:

The highlight of the event was a truly historic moment for our Philippines section. Master Life Fellow Ermelinda S. Galang delivered her capstone lecture, completing the rigorous requirements for her prestigious title.
This is no small feat—Dr. Galang is one of only four individuals to have earned and been conferred the title of Master Life Fellow in the nearly five-decade history of ADI Philippines. Her dedication to the profession serves as an inspiration to us all.
Congratulations to our presenters and a heartfelt thank you to all the fellows and members who joined us for this productive start to the year!

🌟 Celebrating 49 Years of Legacy:
The ADI Philippines Section Anniversary 🌟

Forty-nine years of leadership, fellowship, and service! Today, the Academy of Dentistry International Philippines Section gathered for a heartfelt Eucharistic celebration to honor our 49th Founding Anniversary.

It was on this day in 1977 that 11 stalwarts of the dental profession—visionary academicians and clinicians—established this organization as a section of the Academy of Dentistry International. These pioneers are fondly remembered by ADI Fellows as the "Eleven in Seventy-Seven."

We were deeply honored to be hosted by the Sisters of the Poor of St. Catherine of Siena at their beautiful chapel, making our intimate gathering truly solemn and special. The Mass was made especially poignant as it was celebrated by Father Gerry Quejada, the son of Dr. Juan Quejada. At 95 years young, Dr. Quejada is one of our esteemed founding pioneers and one of the two remaining members of the original "Eleven." Having his son lead our anniversary Mass added a beautiful layer of legacy and gratitude to the celebration.

Following the service, our ADI Fellows and members shared a warm Agape Breakfast with the Sisters and friends of ADI. It was a wonderful morning of food, laughter, and an opportunity to get to know the Sisters’ noble cause more deeply.

As we look toward our golden year, ADI Philippines remains steadfast in its commitment to uplifting the dental profession through the sharing of knowledge, continuing education, research, and dedicated service to the community.

CEU Dentistry: A Century of Excellence! 💯

The ACADEMY OF DENTISTRY
INTERNATIONAL ADI Philippines extends its warmest congratulations to the Centro Escolar University (CEU) College of Dentistry on its monumental milestone: The Centennial Celebration of CEU School of Dentistry!

Under the inspiring theme, “CEU Dentistry Century of Excellence: Crafting a Legacy of Leadership in Dental Education,” the celebration culminated with a magnificent event held on November 29, 2025, at Centennial Hall A, Manila Hotel.

A highlight of the night was the recognition of 100 of CEU Dentistry's Most Distinguished Alumni. We are incredibly proud that numerous esteemed ADI Philippines Fellows and active members were among those honored for their outstanding contributions to the field!

🇵🇭 ADI Philippines Fellows Shine at SEAADE 2025! 🇹🇼✨
36th South East Asian Association for Dental Education (SEAADE)
📅 November 7–9, 2025
📍 Taipei World Trade Center, Taiwan

Under the theme “The Ever-Evolving AI Era and Environmental Sustainability in Dentistry,” our ADI Philippines Fellows proudly represented the country on the international stage.
Fellow Dr. Alicia Camacho presented her lecture: “Integrating Inter-Professional Education in Health Professions Curricula: Basis for Implementation Guidelines.”
Fellow Dr. Edbert Solano showcased his clinical case study poster: “A Case Report: Ameloblastoma-like Lesion in a Patient with Autism Spectrum Disorder.”

Our ADI Membership Chair and MCU Dean Cristina Garcia also served as the Philippine Country Representative to SEAADE, further strengthening our presence and participation in regional dental education initiatives.

As ADI Philippines, we take pride in being a community of incumbent and former faculty members from dental schools across the country. As the local chapter of the Academy of Dentistry International, based in San Antonio, Texas, USA, we remain committed to advancing dental education, service, and global collaboration.
