On March 16-17, 2026, the Rotaract Club of Puerto Princesa spearheaded RAC Kalinga 6.0 at the Brookeโs Point District Jail, Brgy. Tubtub, Brookeโs Point, Palawan. An initiative grounded in compassion, dignity, and the belief in second chances. This large-scale outreach reached 343 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), making it one of the most impactful legs of the RAC Kalinga series. A big thanks to DRR Liam Ison from Rotaract Club of London for sponsoring another sets of hygiene kits.
The project focused on addressing both basic needs and emotional well-being. Rotaractors distributed hygiene kits, reinforcing the importance of self-care and dignity, while also creating a safe space for open dialogue and reconciliation. Through meaningful conversations, PDLs were encouraged to reflect, express themselves, and reconnect with their sense of purpose, promoting peace, understanding, and personal growth within the facility.
Beyond immediate support, RAC Kalinga 6.0 looked toward sustainable rehabilitation by initiating discussions on future hydroponics and aquaponics projects. These proposed collaborations aim to equip PDLs with practical skills, provide livelihood opportunities, and foster a sense of responsibility and hope for reintegration into society.
The ex*****on of the project was marked by coordination, empathy, and genuine human connection. Every interaction served as a reminder that transformation begins when individuals are treated with respect and compassion.
After a day of meaningful service, Rotaractors gathered for a fellowship dinner at Hannahโs Chaolong, where they shared reflections, stories, and gratitude. Over warm meals and heartfelt conversations, the team celebrated not just the success of the project, but the lives touched and the impact created together.
RAC Kalinga 6.0 stands as a powerful testament that service goes beyond giving, it builds bridges, restores dignity, and creates pathways for change. It is a reminder that when compassion leads, even the most challenging environments can become spaces of hope, healing, and new beginnings.
