BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH ENGLISH LEARNING🌉📚 DTS Unbound with Kuya Mel Calcaben!

We learned that to reach the unreached, we need to build relationships first — and one of our best tools is Teaching English.

As part of reaching the frontier and unreached people groups, we use Teaching English as a tool to build relationships. Language becomes the bridge.

It's not just about grammar and vocabulary — it's about connection. It's about sitting with them, listening to their stories, earning the right to be heard, and creating a space where the Gospel can be shared naturally, through love and relationship.

"I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some." — 1 Corinthians 9:22

English opens doors. Relationship builds trust. Trust opens hearts to the Gospel.

We build bridges, not walls.

WEEK 12 | DTS UNBOUND
Spiritual Formation
(Small Habits That Build Big Lives)
with Ate Margaret Tooley

This week we slowed down and went deep into Spiritual Formation.

It’s not about doing more for God, but becoming more with God. Ate Margaret reminded us that big lives aren’t built on big moments, but on small, faithful habits done daily in God’s presence.

Here’s what we journeyed through:

Day 1: SCRIPTURE
Not about information, but transformation.
Not about knowledge & ability, but involvement & availability.
The Word is not just facts — it’s Truth.
It is our spiritual food for our soul.
We learned new ways to immerse ourselves — meditating, memorizing, drawing, and even putting ourselves inside the Bible stories.

Day 2: PRAYER
We learned breath prayers — short, simple, practical prayers for everyday moments.
We looked at the pattern of Jesus’ prayer life and how He taught us to pray to our Heavenly Father.

Day 3: WORSHIP & CELEBRATION
We wrote our own psalms.
We drew an artwork that represents who God is in our life, and who we are in front of Him. Raw, honest, worshipful.

Day 4: GRATITUDE & HOSPITALITY
Lack of thankfulness leads to lack of faith. Complaining leads to unbelief.
And hospitality? It’s about making room — for God, for others, and for yourself.
It’s about fullness and emptiness.

Day 5: PATTERN OF LIFE & RHYTHM
Sabbath is liberation. “Let my people go.”
Sabbath frees us from idolatry, from addiction and from greed.
Sabbath says: “Enough.” Be content.

YWAM DTS UNBOUND | MIDTERM OUTREACH
August 29 - September 5 | El Nido, Palawan

What an amazing week of seeing God move in El Nido! Our DTS Unbound team just finished our midterm outreach. Here’s what God did:

Day 0 - Saturday | Travel Day
Traveled from Puerto Princesa to Roxas to El Nido. We were warmly welcomed and hosted by Pastor Ernesto Claros and Ptra. Emely Claros at Zion Christian Mission Fellowship.

Day 1 - Sunday | Worship & Feeding Day
We joined and enjoyed the Sunday worship service at Zion El Nido Church in the morning. In the afternoon, we went to Cagbanaba with Pastor Bhong Moreno for Children’s ministry — feeding, games, and Bible study for the parents.

Day 2 - Monday | Evangelism Day
House to house evangelism in Brgy. Mabini with Pastor Ronnel Albao. We prayed for every family we visited and shared stories of how God’s love transforms our lives. Ended the day at Lio Beach watching the sunset — so beautiful!

Day 3 - Tuesday | Rest & Provision Day
It was our rest day but God still provided! Thank you to Ma’am Myds and Sir Chito, owners of David John Travel and Tours, for bringing us to Papaya Beach to enjoy God’s creation for free. At night they also invited us for dinner at their place, and we had the privilege to pray for their family and businesses.

Day 4 - Wednesday | Fellowship Day
Fellowship time with the Pastors and wives of Zion El Nido. At night, we celebrated the birthday of Pastor Ernie Claros and Johanne.

Day 5 - Thursday | Building Day
Morning trip to Brgy. Totong, Cabanban, Taytay with Pastor Ricky Eking Baya for house to house evangelism. In the afternoon, we helped build the pioneering church — digging and carrying soil to fill the flooring of the Church.

Day 6 - Friday | Prayer walk and Youth Ministry
Visited some Christian businesses in El Nido and prayed for their success and to continue serving God faithfully in the marketplace. At night we had a great time ministering to the youth of Zion Church.

Day 7 - Saturday | Clean up Day
Clean up day and travel back to our YWAM base in Irawan, Puerto Princesa. Tired but full of joy!

Day 2 — Brgy. Mabini, El Nido 🌴 Palawan
DTS MIDTERM OUTREACH

Today we went to another pioneering church of Zion Christian Mission Fellowship in Brgy. Mabini, El Nido.
We did house-to-house evangelism — entering homes, listening to stories, praying for families, and sharing the story of what God has done in our lives.

Simple obedience. Simple gospel.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. - Romans 1:16

The harvest is truly plentiful here in El Nido. Thank you to ZCMF Mabini for welcoming us! Please continue to pray for the families we met today — that the seed planted will grow.

Day 1 - El Nido, Palawan Midterm Outreach 🌴
DTS Unbound Team

What a beautiful first day here in El Nido!

This morning we had a wonderful worship time with our family at Zion Christian Mission Fellowship Church. They were very welcoming and we felt right at home. The Lord was very much active in El Nido.

In the afternoon, we traveled to their pioneering church in Sitio Cagbanaba where we got to do Children’s Ministry and Parents Ministry. Simple games, stories, and sharing about God and His Word — but you could feel God moving in both the kids and the parents.

We ended the day in a very special way — we were invited to a birthday celebration in the community and got to pray for a family who recently lost their eldest son after battling from cancer. Please keep them in your prayers (Mr. Joey and Mrs Rose Itaas). In the midst of grief, God’s comfort was so present.

Thank you, El Nido family, thank you Pastor Ernesto Claros and Pastora Emely Claros for opening your doors to us.

Day 1 is just the beginning!
Please pray for us as we continue this week — for more open doors and open hearts.
