Do Your Words Pierce Like a Sword or Promote Health?

Proverbs 12 NKJV
18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword,
But the tongue of the wise promotes health.
25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression,
But a good word makes it glad.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. (Luke 6:45) Indeed, good words come out from a good heart. Charity begins at home but sadly, due to familiarity, we unconsciously hurt the people that we love, thinking that they will always understand; but what if they don’t?

You Shall be Free Indeed

John 8 NKJV
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bo***ge to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Whoever commits sin is a slave to sin but thanks be to God who sent His Son Jesus so that we can be set free from the slavery of sin. How does this happen? First, you must know the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He came for the lost and sinners. Second, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household (Acts 16:31). This is faith. When you believe that Jesus can save you from the slavery of sin, then, you will be free indeed.

Those Who Deal Truthfully are the Lord’s Delight

Proverbs 12 NKJV
17 He who speaks truth declares righteousness,
But a false witness, deceit.
18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword,
But the tongue of the wise promotes health.
19 The truthful lip shall be established forever,
But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have joy.
21 No grave [f]trouble will overtake the righteous,
But the wicked shall be filled with evil.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD,
But those who deal truthfully are His delight.

Being truthful in all our dealings is difficult because we are living through tough times when deceit seems normal and scammers prey on the innocent but those who fear and love God must make a stand. We must uphold truth no matter what the cost because the righteous gains favor from the Lord and He protects them in an extraordinary way.

I Take Refuge in the Shadow of Your Wings, O Lord

Psalm 57 NKJV
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.
2 I will cry out to God Most High,
To God who performs all things for me.
3 He shall send from heaven and save me;
He reproaches the one who [b]would swallow me up. Selah
God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.

Taking refuge in the shadow of the Lord’s wings means you are actively serving the Lord and move under His direction. God will protect you until the calamities have passed by. One can only take refuge under the shadow of the Lord’s wings when a person is flying with the Lord. A sleeping or passive Christian cannot claim this promise.

God Knows Your Wanderings and Tears

Psalm 56 NKJV
3 Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
8 You number my wanderings;
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book?
9 When I cry out to You,
Then my enemies will turn back;
This I know, because God is for me.
10 In God (I will praise His word),
In the LORD (I will praise His word),
11 In God I have put my trust;
I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?

In this scriptural passage, King David was pursued by his enemies who sought to kill him. We may not live in danger like he did but at some points in our lives, we had our own share of wanderings and tears but here’s the good news. We can have rest and be at peace knowing that God will deliver us from pain or danger because He is for us.

The Blessing of the Upright Makes the City Great

Proverbs 11 NKJV
11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted,
But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
25 The generous soul will be made rich,
And he who waters will also be watered himself.

God blesses the city where the upright live. He will even pardon the city for the sake of one just man.
“Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem;
See now and know;
And seek in her open places
If you can find a man,
If there is anyone who executes [a]judgment,
Who seeks the truth,
And I will pardon her. (Jeremiah 5:1)

Kaya patuloy nating ipagpray ang Puerto Princesa, the city of the living God.

All the Promises of the Lord are Fulfilled

Joshua 21 NKJV
43 So the LORD gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. 44 The LORD gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

It is heartwarming to know that when God promises, He fulfills it. Not a word failed of any good thing. This truth can strengthen our faith. When we meditate on God’s word, we can claim His promises in His word through faith. If you want rest from all your troubles, God will grant it to you according to His will. He can silence and chain the enemy and restore what the devil has stolen.

Kapayapaan
Nagmumula sa Inyo
Kaligayahan
Nakamit sa piling Niyo

[Chorus]
Wala ng hahanapin pa
Wala ng nanaisin pa
Kundi mamalagi sa piling Niyo
Aming Ama

Wala ng Papantay sa Inyo
Nag- iisang Panginoon
Kaya ang naisin ng puso ko
Sa piling Niyo.

A Broken Spirit, A Broken and A Contrite Heart

Psalm 51 NKJV
15 O Lord, open my lips,
And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it;
You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.

Having a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart means deciding to stop, turn away from sin, and turn back to God. This happens to a child of God who once had an intimate fellowship with Him but went astray. It is realizing that life feels empty without His presence. You may enjoy world pleasures now but time will come that you will realize that these are temporary and you will thirst for God’s presence. This is being experienced even to people who do not know God or deny His existence. Why? This is because in the heart of man lies an empty chamber that only God can fill.

Why Do You Sleep?

Luke 22 NKJV
39 Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. 40 When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” 43 [f]Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. 46 Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”

Here’s a hard and painful realization from this scriptural passage, Jesus told His disciples to pray that they may not enter into temptation but He found them sleeping. In the dark hours before His crucifixion, He needed prayer support from His chosen disciples but He found them sleeping from sorrow. There comes a time in our spiritual journey that we need prayer support from friends and family. Like the disciples who slept, the people whom we asked to pray for us have their own struggles too. At the end of the day, the truth is, it is still between you and the Lord. His will prevails, not ours.

Long Life, Gladness, and Strength for the Upright

Proverbs 10 NKJV
3 The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish,
But He casts away the desire of the wicked.
22 The blessing of the LORD makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongs days,
But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
But the expectation of the wicked will perish.
29 The way of the LORD is strength for the upright,
But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments. (John 14:15 NKJV) Obedience borne out of love. This is the kind of obedience that the Lord desires from His people. It’s so sweet to meditate today’s scriptural passage, that is, the Lord will not allow the righteous soul to starve, In times of famine, he will have more than enough. When He blesses, He adds no sorrow with it. Hence, blessings with many sorrows do not come from the Lord. How does this happen? When God’s child pursues riches or material gain without seeking the Lord’s will, then sorrow awaits for him.

Finding a Way to Get Close to Jesus

Luke 19 NKJV
Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up [a]and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, [b]make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he [c]made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all [d]complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”
8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Zacchaeus did something that caught the attention of the Lord Jesus. He climbed up the sycamore tree just to see Him. His limitation, being short in stature, did not hinder him from seeing Jesus. He was intentional in seeing Jesus. He looked around and found a way and did not waste time.
