In line with its commitment to promote mental health awareness and su***de prevention among the youth, HALT Palawan, in collaboration with Compassion International and its local partners, successfully conducted a two-day series of awareness trainings for their partners and beneficiaries. A total of 120 youth participants were catered in two days, which aimed to provide a safe and supportive space where young people can better understand themselves, recognize their self-worth, and openly talk about life’s challenges.

The program featured culturally appropriate topics adapted to the level of the participants, who were primarily from the junior and senior high school levels. The sessions were designed to help participants reflect on their value as individuals, make life-giving choices, and better understand the influences shaping their generation—especially in today’s digital age. Through interactive activities and breakout group sessions, the program fostered openness, meaningful interaction, and a shared learning experience.

As a local, volunteer NGO, Help A Life Today - Palawan [HALT] has been active in providing Mental Health PsychoSocial Support [MHPSS] services in the province of Palawan since 2020.

Our hearts are overwhelmed with gratefulness because, despite very limited resources, our volunteers have been tirelessly serving to meet the ever growing demands for such services. Thankful also for the support from generous donors, our families, friends and colleagues far and wide who lent a hand whenever needs arose.

Most recently, someone with a huge, generous heart decided to partner with us by way of encouraging her family and friends to give to us. This is in lieu of birthday presents for her so we could continue our mandate in responding to various requests for technical and moral support from schools and communities that have been confronted with mental health and psychosocial challenges.
The demand for such support services has been increasing. The number of su***de incidence in the province has been very alarming. The harvest is aplenty. The laborers afew.
But we will press on.

From all of us at HALT - Palawan Matamang salamat kanindong tanan ig kaloi'an kitang tanan sateng Gino! Soli Deo Gloria!

As part of Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, this activity aims to educate the learners to become effective gatekeepers in the school setting to prevent su***de within the community through appropriate identification, management, and referral of learners at risk.

Together let us CHANGE THE NARRATIVE ON SU***DE! It is about transforming how we perceive this complex issue. It’s about shifting from a culture of silence and lack of understanding to one of openness, empathy, and support. Aiming to inspire individuals, communities, organizations, and governments to engage in open and honest discussions about su***de and suicidal behaviour. By initiating these vital conversations, we can break down barriers, raise awareness, and create better cultures of understanding and support.

So together, let us break the stigma, start the conversation, and make the difference!

Healing is possible! ✨✨✨
