DSWD Pantawid Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation e-learning Course

On May 26, 2026, Stairway Foundation, together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program National Program Management Office (DSWD 4Ps NPMO), officially launched the Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention (CSAEP) e-Learning Course for 4Ps implementers.

This milestone represents a significant advancement in our collective commitment to equip frontline workers with the knowledge and skills needed to protect children and support families. By making critical child protection training more accessible, standardized, and tailored to the real-world challenges faced by 4Ps implementers, the e-Learning course helps ensure better outcomes for communities nationwide.
The event also renewed the partnership between SFI and DSWD, reaffirming more than a decade of collaboration in advancing child protection and family strengthening initiatives. Building on this shared history, SFI remains committed to working not only with the 4Ps Program but also with other DSWD programs, all in pursuit of a common goal: creating safer environments for children and strengthening Filipino families.

We look forward to the next chapter of this partnership, as we continue to innovate and collaborate to ensure that every Filipino child is protected, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive.

From May 6–8, 2026, Technical Working Group members from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao gathered at Stairway Foundation to review, refine, and finalize the classroom-based Anti-Bullying Session Guides.

A collaboration with the DepEd Learner Rights and Protection Division, the materials were developed through learner consultations, aligned with DepEd policies, and strengthened through pilot testing, these age-appropriate and teacher-friendly guides are now ready for nationwide use in School Year 2026–2027.

The guides will help educators facilitate structured, meaningful, and engaging anti-bullying sessions from Elementary to Senior High School.

Last May 5, 2026, Stairway Foundation, Inc., together with the Child Protection Network, the World Bank, and the Department of Education Learner Rights and Protection Division, conducted the Training of Trainers on the Child Protection Policy in School Civil Works.

The training brought together key DepEd personnel from across the country involved in World Bank-supported school construction projects. Participants were equipped to train others and support schools in developing and implementing Child Protection Policies that help safeguard learners during construction activities.
When schools are being built or improved, children often share spaces with contractors, workers, and visitors. Strong child protection measures help ensure that every learner remains safe during these projects.

Every school should be a place where children can learn, grow, and be protected.

Empowering youth and inspiring action!

On May 22 and 23, 2026, 21 young people from eight organizations came together for EcoMustahan, an EACY Alliance event. They learned new skills, worked as a team, and planned eco-projects for their communities. Topics included EACY, waste management, youth leadership, and project planning.

To celebrate World Turtle Day, they watched a film, cleaned up the coast, and made turtle art using collected waste. By turning trash into art, they shared a message of environmental responsibility.

The event showed how important it is to protect our oceans and coasts. Sea turtles still face dangers from pollution, losing their habitats, and improper waste disposal.

These young people show that even small actions can make a big difference for their communities, the oceans, and the planet.

Lakbay Aral and Senate Visit

From May 3 to 5, the three-day Lakbay Aral (Study Trip) and Senate Exposure enabled children and youth from Puerto Galera in Stairway’s Local Child Protection Project to gain hands-on experience in child participation, leadership, and governance. The program encouraged active involvement and personal development, equipping participants with applicable knowledge and skills.

Through targeted orientation sessions, engaging discussions with youth groups such as Kilusang Batang Silangan (KBS), and thoughtful dialogues, participants deepened their understanding of children’s rights, purposeful community engagement, and effective advocacy.

A central highlight was the visit to the Philippine Senate, where participants examined the legislative process, interacted with a Senate Champion for Children’s Rights, and observed how national policies are formed.

This experience inspired participants to enhance their leadership, amplify children’s voices in their communities, and become more dedicated advocates for children’s rights.

CONSUELO FOUNDATION: STAIRWAY FAMILY HOME PROGRAM LEARNING EXCHANGE VISIT

“Being a family in all ways is at the core of caring for children.”

From May 11-15, Stairway Foundation hosted Consuelo Foundation and partners for a valuable Learning Exchange Visit at our Family Home Program.

The visit highlighted how rights-based and participatory approaches shape our Family Home's daily care for children. Participants considered how these practices could inform their own programs.

Participants also emphasized that family culture, not just systems, is central to residential care. They observed how this culture is integrated into all aspects of Stairway's work.

We appreciate sharing, learning, and reflecting with partners committed to safe, nurturing, and empowering spaces for children.
Maraming salamat, Consuelo Foundation and partners, for learning with us as one family.
