In response to the recent incidents of violence in Philippine schools, the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) conducted a Kumustahan Session with childrenโ€™s groups from its partner barangays in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. The activity provided children with a safe and supportive space to share their thoughts, participate in interactive activities, and reflect on the factors that contribute to violence among children and young people.

Throughout the session, children actively expressed their perspectives on the possible roots of bullying and aggressive behavior. Many shared that children who grow up in homes where abuse, harsh discipline, or frequent conflict are present, or in communities where violence has become normalized, may be more likely to imitate these behaviors in their interactions with others.

One participant shared that violent behavior is not simply influenced by what children watch or play. Instead, the child emphasized that a personโ€™s behavior is shaped by both individual characteristics and the environment in which they are raised, highlighting the important role of families, schools, and communities in nurturing children with positive values and healthy relationships.

The session reinforced the importance of listening to childrenโ€™s lived experiences and perspectives when addressing issues that directly affect them. Their insights serve as a reminder that preventing violence in schools requires more than reacting to isolated incidents, it calls for strengthening positive parenting, promoting non-violent discipline, fostering supportive school environments, protecting childrenโ€™s mental well-being, and encouraging respectful relationships at home and in the community.

FDAI calls on parents, educators, government agencies, community leaders, and all sectors of society to work together in creating safe, inclusive, and nurturing environments where every child can learn and grow free from fear, bullying, and violence.

By listening to children and valuing their voices, we move closer to building schools and communities where respect, empathy, and protection become the norm rather than the exception.

Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur โ€” June 7, 2026. As children prepare to return to school, the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) distributed school supplies to 1,788 children from its partner barangays in the Municipality of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The activity was conducted under FDAIโ€™s Self-Help Approach Children-Focused Community Development (SHA-CFCD) Program, specifically through its Child Sponsorship component. More than simply providing learning materials, the initiative served as a message of encouragement to children, to continue studying, to believe in their dreams, and to recognize that their education is an important step toward a brighter future.

Through this distribution, FDAI hopes to inspire children to enter the new school year with confidence, motivation, and renewed hope. Each notebook, pencil, and school item represents a reminder that their dreams matter, their efforts are valued, and their communities continue to support them in their journey toward learning and growth.

FDAI believes that education is one of the most powerful ways to help children discover their potential and build better opportunities for themselves and their families. By supporting children before the opening of classes, the organization reaffirms its commitment to promoting childrenโ€™s rights, especially their right to education, development, and equal opportunity.

The activity also highlights the importance of collective support in nurturing childrenโ€™s dreams. With the continued partnership of families, community leaders, partner barangays, and stakeholders, FDAI remains committed to walking alongside children as they pursue their education and shape a future filled with hope, dignity, and possibility.

Following the successful Palaro Tu AgSur 2026 hosted by the Province of Agusan del Sur, the Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) conducted a debriefing activity for the facilitators who served at the Puso at Isip Care Space throughout the event.

The debriefing served as an opportunity for facilitators to reflect on their experiences, share meaningful insights, and recognize the impact of their contributions throughout the event. It also provided a space to celebrate accomplishments, discuss challenges encountered, and gather recommendations for future implementations of the initiative.

The Puso at Isip Care Space was established as a wellness and de-stressing hub where learner-athletes could take a break from the demands of competition. Through various recreational, creative, and relaxation activities, the space offered participants an opportunity to unwind, recharge, and enjoy moments of comfort and balance amidst their athletic commitments.

The activity highlighted the importance of creating supportive environments that promote the overall well-being of learner-athletes, helping them maintain a healthy balance between competitive performance and personal wellness throughout the duration of the games.

The Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) successfully conducted an Exit Conference for its Social Work Interns who completed their required 500 hours of Field Instruction I in Casework and Groupwork.

The activity served as a culmination of the internsโ€™ field instruction experience and provided an opportunity to reflect on their professional growth, learning, and contributions throughout their placement. During the conference, discussions highlighted the dynamics of social work practice, including client engagement, case assessment and intervention, group facilitation, documentation, ethical practice, and collaboration with agency personnel and community stakeholders.

Throughout their internship, the students demonstrated commitment, adaptability, and a genuine passion for serving individuals, families, groups, and communities. Their field instruction experience allowed them to apply social work theories and principles in actual practice settings while developing essential competencies needed in the profession.

FDAI expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Social Work Interns for their dedication, hard work, and meaningful contributions to the agency. Their willingness to learn, serve, and grow professionally has been commendable and has positively impacted both the agency and the clients they encountered during their placement.

As they continue their academic journey and future professional practice, FDAI hopes that the knowledge, skills, and values they have acquired during their field instruction will guide them in becoming competent, ethical, and compassionate social workers.

The Foundation for the Development of Agusanons, Inc. (FDAI) proudly took part in the Asia-Pacific Youth-Led Summit on Ending Violence Against Children, held from April 14โ€“17, 2026 at Loreland Farm Resort in Antipolo City, Philippines.

The international summit, organized by the Global Youth-Led Movement on Ending Violence Against Children and founded by Bryanna Mariรฑas, gathered over 200 young leaders, advocates, and stakeholders from 23 countries across the Asia-Pacific region. The event served as a dynamic platform to strengthen youth leadership, co-create innovative solutions to prevent violence against children, and develop a unified regional agenda in preparation for the 2nd Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children.

Kindernothilfe (KNH) played a key leadership role as part of the Summitโ€™s Support Team, providing technical guidance, coordination, and essential resources to ensure that the event achieved its objectives while upholding a strong youth-centered approach.

As a part of the established Support Team under KNH, FDAI actively contributed to the overall planning, coordination, and implementation of the summit. The organization helped oversee key aspects of the event, ensuring smooth operations and meaningful engagement among participants.

FDAI expresses its sincere gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a significant international gathering. The experience not only strengthened the organizationโ€™s commitment to child protection and youth empowerment but also reinforced the importance of collaborative action in addressing violence against children.

Moving forward, FDAI remains dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of children and young people, and to supporting initiatives that amplify youth voices in shaping safer and more inclusive communities.
