In celebration of National 4-H Week, 4-H MAYA launches an online spoken poetry contest showcasing the voices, dreams, and creativity of the youth.

🎯 OBJECTIVE

To provide 4-H members a platform to express their emotions, dreams, struggles, and inspirations through spoken poetry that reflects the true spirit of 4-H youth in agriculture, leadership, and community service.

👥 WHO CAN JOIN

• Open to all registered 4-H Maya members
• Individual participation only

🧩 MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES
🎤 ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Each participant must submit:
• A spoken poetry video performance
• Duration: 2–4 minutes only
• Must be original composition and personally performed
• Language may be Tagalog, English, or Taglish

🌾 THEME
“Tanim ng Pangarap: Voices of 4-H Youth”
The spoken poetry must reflect the life and journey of a 4-H member, focusing on:
• 🌱 Dreams and ambitions in life and agriculture
• 💔 Struggles, sacrifices, and emotional experiences
• 🤝 Friendship, unity, and support within 4-H
• 🌾 Life in farming and community involvement
• 🌟 Hope, resilience, and personal growth

📤 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
• Deadline of Submissiom - May 16, 2026| 12noon
• Upload entry on Facebook (official 4-H FB page)
• Caption must include a short description or reflection of the poem

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 🌾

Pototan, Iloilo - A knowledge-driven competition placed young farmers at the center of this year’s farmers’ celebration, as participants took on the BOBO (Battle of Brainy Organisms) Challenge on May 4, 2026.

Organized by DA-PhilRice Negros, the BOBO Challenge, launched in 2025, is a modified quiz bee designed to test understanding of rice science, current events, and key agricultural issues. The activity was held as part of the agri-fair exhibit, drawing participation from members of the 4-H Club Maya Municipal Federation – Pototan Chapter.

A team composed of Angel L. Bertolano and Rein Khyle T. Posa of 4-H Tuburan, along with Prince Eim Grande of 4-H Casalsagan, declared as champions after demonstrating strong knowledge and quick decision-making throughout the competition.

The competition shows a growing effort to connect with young people by making agriculture more engaging, interactive, and grounded in real-world knowledge.

In partnership with 4-H Club, DA-PhilRice Negros continues to promote youth involvement as part of a broader strategy to help sustain the country’s rice industry.

4-H MAYA Pototan proudly joined the opening parade of Humayan 2026 last May 4, 2026 , the annual celebration of Pototan, represented by Mr. and Ms. 4-H MAYA Ryan Suganob and Mheygan Omali, together with selected Federation Officers led by Federation President Aljon P. Grande, showcasing youth unity, leadership, and community spirit.

𝐁𝐎𝐁𝐎 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐄: The Brainy Side of “Bobo” Revealed

The Battle of the Brainy Organisms, also known as the BOBO Challenge, was led by Ben Raye Marco of the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) Negros. The activity brought excitement and sharp thinking during the Agri-Fair in celebration of Farmers’ Week 2026, held at the Open Court in Pototan, Iloilo on May 4, 2026. The competition aimed to enhance agricultural knowledge and promote youth engagement in agriculture.

Four participating groups from 4-H MAYA Pototan showcased teamwork, knowledge, and enthusiasm throughout the activity.

Group 1—Angel L. Bertolano, Rein Khyle T. Posa, and Joemar Dela Cruz—emerged as the winning team.

The Pototan Farmers Association, together with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Pototan, officially opened the Farmers’ Week Celebration today, May 2, 2026, at the Pototan Coliseum. The celebration carries the theme “Pagdayaw kag Pagpauswag: Paghugpong sang Kaalam, Inobasyon, kag Pahiliusa sang mga Mangunguma sang Pototan.”

The activity started with registration at 6:30 AM, followed by the Foot Parade at 7:00 AM. Participants registered on-site before joining the parade, marking the start of the week-long celebration.
