BACOFFA Participates in “Bayanihan sa Panahon ng Bagyo” Seminar on OFW Volunteerism for Disaster Response
PONTEVEDRA, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL — March 18, 2026 — The Brgy. Cambarus OFW and Family Farmers Association (BACOFFA) actively participated in the seminar entitled “Bayanihan sa Panahon ng Bagyo – OFW Volunteerism for Typhoon and Flood Relief Operation,” held at the Negosyo Center, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.
The activity gathered representatives from 20 Barangay OFW Associations across the municipality, strengthening collaboration and preparedness among OFW organizations and their families in responding to typhoons, floods, and other emergencies.
Representing BACOFFA, the following members attended the seminar:

The seminar aimed to equip participants with knowledge and practical skills on disaster preparedness, volunteer coordination, and community-based relief operations, particularly during typhoons and flooding which frequently affect vulnerable communities.
Participants gained valuable insights from distinguished resource speakers who shared their expertise on emergency response and community safety:
1. Mr. Arnel D. Gareza, Training Officer from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO)
2. FO2 Herbie Z. Alova, Chief of the Community Relations Unit
3. PSSG Israel M. Masion
Through the discussions and interactive sessions, participants learned the importance of organized volunteerism, rapid response coordination, and community solidarity during disaster situations.
The seminar was hosted by the Pontevedra United OFW and Family Vendors and Farmers Association, demonstrating the organization’s commitment to empowering OFWs and their families to become active partners in community resilience and disaster response.
The organizers also expressed their appreciation to the local government and partner offices for their support in making the activity possible.
