Leadership Training cm Election of DFSSLG and Teacher-Advisers
๐๏ธ March 3, 2026, the newly elected Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers, together with their teacher-advisers, gathered at the Schools Division Office of Ilocos Norte for TIMPUYOG 2026: Leadership Training cm Election of DFSSLG and Teacher-Advisers. This whole-day event aimed to capacitate learner-leaders through meaningful discussions on leadership, disaster readiness, career guidance, and learner rights protection, highlighting the vital role of young leaders in creating positive change in their schools and communities.
The program opened with the presentation of participants led by Ms. Vianney Marie S. Diego, setting the tone for unity and collaboration. An inspiring message from Schools Division Superintendent Donato D. Balderas Jr. reminded everyone that true leadership is rooted in integrity and heart. DFSSLG President Deejay A. Calimag then looked back on the milestones of SY 2025โ2026, celebrating the collective efforts of learner-leaders across the division, while Ms. Diego and Mr. Mark Alvin Tabije laid out the General Plan of Action to guide the next steps forward.
The morning session continued with an insightful leadership talk by Ms. Trizza Rushel V. Castro, MBA, Senior Sales Manager of Corby Philippines Inc., who discussed โThe Significance of Leadership Skills for Young Leaders in Managing Challenges and Adapting to Change.โ Her message emphasized adaptability, resilience, and confidenceโqualities essential for navigating todayโs evolving challenges.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted toward preparing learners for their future careers. Dr. Geraldine B. Pascual, Chief of the Guidance and Counseling and Career Center of Mariano Marcos State University, delivered an engaging and informative career guidance session. Leadership, however, is not only about visionโit is also about fairness and protection. Atty. Eric Karl Nicholas Aguilar, Attorney II and Focal Person for Division Learner Rights and Protection, provided a comprehensive discussion on the guidelines for the election of Division Federated Learner-Leaders and Teacher-Advisers, while reinforcing the importance of safeguarding learner rights.
Finally, the day underscored that true leadership requires preparedness. Maโam Jennifer P. Alejandro, Education Program Specialist II for HRDD, shared valuable knowledge on School-Based Disaster Readiness under DRRM, reminding everyone that responsible leaders must be proactive in ensuring safety and resilience within their schools.
Indeed, TIMPUYOG 2026 was a day filled with learning, inspiration, and empowerment, strengthening unity among learner-leaders as they commit to lead with excellence, accountability, and heart.
