Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Cornelio G. Banaag Jr.
Our hearts are heavyโyet full.
Full of gratitude for a life that gave so much, to so many.
With profound sadness, we mourn the passing of not only an extraordinary professional, but an extraordinary human beingโone whose compassion, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to healing transformed countless lives.
More than advancing the field of mental health, Dr. Banaag humanized it. He gave voice to those who suffered in silence and brought dignity to conversations once shrouded in fear and stigma.
His legacy is not confined to textbooks, institutions, or accolades. It lives onโin every life he touched, every student he mentored, and every system he helped shape. His influence is deeply woven into the very fabric of mental health care in the Philippines.
He was more than a pillar in his field. He was a guiding light, a source of inspiration, and a compassionate soul whose presence uplifted all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His absence will be deeply felt. He will be remembered not only for what he accomplishedโbut for who he was: kind, selfless, and profoundly human.
As we grieve, we also honor.
As we mourn, we give thanks.
May his memory continue to inspire us to carry forward the work he so beautifully began.
His light will never dimโespecially within the Philippine Mental Health Association community.
May he rest in peace.
