Embracing the ethos of the theme, โ€œHawak Natin ang Beat: Every Feat Counts, Every Future Matters,โ€ the College of Social Sciences โ€“ Student Council (CSS-SC) sprearheaded Project BEAT: Building Every Achievement Towards the Futureโ€ today, April 24, via Google Meet and Facebook Live.

The webinar brought together graduating students and alumna to facilitate a meaningful dialogue, aiming to illuminate the often-challenging realities of campus life while equipping attendees with the resilience necessary for the path ahead.

โ€‹Graduating student-leaders from the BS Psychology program, Cristina Dela Rosa and Ace York Matienzo, opened the discussion by urging their peers to courageously acknowledge their personal struggles, manage academic pressure effectively, and actively advocate for mental health awareness.

โ€œWe can't be perfect because no one in this world is perfect, we all have our imperfections. What matters most is your progressโ€”the small steps you have achieved along the way,โ€ Dela Rosa emphasized.

Meanwhile, โ€‹providing a broader perspective to close the session, AB English Language Studies alumna Stephanie Almeรฑe delved into the profound process of self-discovery, encouraging participants to find their own space and reclaim the true meaning of success beyond traditional metrics.

โ€œSuccess doesnโ€™t always look like applause; sometimes, it looks like peace. Sometimes, success is simply choosing not to carry the weight anymore,โ€ Almeรฑe shared.

Individual talents converged into one shared vision as students gathered for PAmamahala Day 2026: Weaving Individual Strengths into a Unified Vision, organized by the Association of Public Administration Students, a celebration of leadership, camaraderie, and student excellence held at the URS Pililla Gymnasium on April 23.

The event drew 86 Public Administration students from different year levels who took part in Talinong Pampamahalaan, a quiz bee that tested wit and knowledge, the much-anticipated Lakan ng Pub Ad, and team-building activities designed to strengthen cooperation, trust, and unity among future public servants.

More than a day of competition and festivity, the program reflected the power of collaboration proving that distinct strengths, when woven together, can build a stronger and more dynamic academic community.

Through the celebration, students were reminded that effective leadership is shaped not by individuality alone but by people working together toward a common purpose.

๐ˆ๐ ๐๐‡๐Ž๐“๐Ž๐’ | AB ELS Research Conference โ€˜26 highlights innovation and scholarly excellence among AB students

With the primary goal of showcasing the comprehensive research of Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (AB ELS) student-researchers, the program spearheaded its 3rd Annual Research Conference on Thursday, April 16, at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR), featuring thesis presentations and Q&A sessions, alongside an engaging exhibit that displayed the researchers' initial to revised manuscripts and developed materials.

Anchored on the theme "Exploring New Horizons and Fostering Innovation in English Language Research," the event convened 103 AB ELS students from across year levels and 26 student-researchers to engage in the academic exchange, highlighting their competence in the field.

Serving as the conferenceโ€™s keynote speaker and one of the panel of judges, Dr. Floricel Ulat, a faculty member and the head of the Research Development in URS Tanay, underscored the integral role of ELS research in the society and its evolving nature in the digital age.

Meanwhile, another distinguished academics: Ms. Geraldine Tonito, DepEd faculty and URSP Alumna, and Prof. Kenneth Benedicto, AB ELS faculty member, also served as panel of judges.

Moreover, Campusโ€™ Research Development Coordinator, Dr. Jerwin Mahaguay, also delivered an inspiring message to the students, encouraging students to pursue excellence in research and academic writing.

Moving to the highlight of the event, nine group of researchers presented their studies, focusing on the abstract, findings, and conclusion.

After the presentation, the event shifted to a lively and engaging exhibit of initial manuscripts and materials to the final revised ones, reflecting the tedious yet fulfilling nature of research writing. Each table also feature some interactive games aligned to their studies to further engage the students.

The research studies presented focused on grammar development, vocabulary enhancement, literary analysis, career readiness, code-switching, and impact of artificial intelligence on study habitsโ€”garnering awards and recognitions.

๐ˆ๐ ๐๐‡๐Ž๐“๐Ž๐’ | CSS student-researchers garner top honors at URSP Research Congress '26

Demonstrating academic rigor and scholarly depth, three groups of student-researchers from the College of Social Sciences (CSS) dominated the recently held 2026 URSP Studentsโ€™ Research Congress, themed โ€œURSP Researchers: Leading with Excellence as Future-Ready Professionals,โ€ held on April 14, at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR).

Together with other campusโ€™ student-researchers, the event highlighted the scholarly competence of each group across descriptive, developmental, and feasibility research categories.

Leading the charge for the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (AB ELS), the research team of Desiree Marie Juan, John Dharly Lacaba, and Maxine Montealegre, under the mentorship of Dr. Jocelyn Gagalang, secured the Best Research in the Descriptive category with their study title, โ€œLiterary Analysis Skills of Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies First Year Students."

Reflecting on the achievement, Juan expressed her delight, underscoring that the URSP Research Congress opened essential doors for the study to be heard while allowing the team to share their findings with a broader audience.

โ€œIt is such an honor and a privilege to win Best Research in the Descriptive Research Category. Not only does it bring me joy, but I am also grateful for the experience. The URS Research Congress opened doors for our study to be presented and heard, allowing us to share the results of our study,โ€ Juan exclaimed.

Close behind in the same category, the Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BS PSYCH)team comprising Nicole Masinsin, Alyssa Cayte Gaylican, Deniese Elizabeth Malaluan, and Mary Joyce Olivar, advised by Prof. Liezel Francisco, earned a distinguished second-place finish for their research titled โ€œLago sa Laro: Off-Field Behavior and Team Identification Among Student-Athletes of the University of Rizal System.โ€

Masinsin highlighted the social contribution of their work, noting that by uncovering "hidden" behavioral patterns, the study serves as a tool to create better community programs and support systems that build team spirit and leadership skills beyond the court.

โ€œWe discovered "hidden" details about their behavior that usually get ignored. And because we now understand these patterns, we can create better school projects and community programs that build their team spirit and leadership skills.โ€ she explained.

Masinsin also added, โ€œItโ€™s about making sure that being a student-athlete at URS helps them become better people, not just better players.โ€

Meanwhile, AB ELS continued its winning streak in the Developmental category as researchers, by Noelle Mechilina, Jerry Max Jesuitas, and Alyza Joy Mawili, also guided by Dr. Gagalang, claimed the Best Research title for their work, โ€œLanguage Inquiry and Research Knowledge (LInK): A Worktext in Language Research for Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies Studentsโ€

In an interview, Jesuitas discussed the practical implications of their truimph, emphasizing the project's ultimate goal was to ameliorate the academic experience by providing a comprehensive, student-friendly worktext designed tostreamline the often-daunting language research process for the future researchers.

โ€œThe primary goal of our research is to develop a comprehensive and student-friendly worktext [which] aims to guide learners through the entire language research process,โ€ he shared.
