NCRPO DISMANTLES SYNDICATE INVOLVED IN PROLIFERATION OF FAKE PWD IDENTIFICATION CARDS, ARRESTS SIX IN SEPARATE ENTRAPMENT OPS
A carefully orchestrated entrapment operation by the Regional Special Operations Group with Regional Intelligence Division and Manila Police District-District Intelligence Division (MPD-DID) led to the arrest of six individuals involved in the widespread production and sale of counterfeit Persons with Disabilities (PWD) identification cards and other Public and Private Documents.
First operation was at around 5:40 PM on February 5, 2025, when Manila Police District-District Intelligence Division (MPD-DID) operatives nabbed suspects known by their aliases—Tess, 34; Dogdog, 49; and MJ, 31—in Brgy. 310, Quezon Blvd., Sta. Cruz, Manila. The operation was launched after an intelligence-led validation and a tip-off about the illegal activities.
This operation comes amid growing concerns from business owners regarding fraudulent PWD discounts. A recent statement from the Restaurant Owners of the Philippines (Resto PH) highlighted how fake PWD cards are exploiting businesses, leading to significant financial losses, especially for small and family-run establishments.
At around 7:00 PM on the same date, the Regional Special Operations Group, in coordination with the Regional Intelligence Division, conducted an entrapment operation on Hidalgo Street, Brgy. 393, Quiapo, Manila. Arrested during the operation were alias Aileen, 45 years old; alias Jonathan, 39 years old; and alias John, 29 years old. The suspects were caught red-handed selling falsified Persons with Disability (PWD) IDs to a police poseur buyer and were also found printing forged PWD IDs and other counterfeit public and private documents.
During the two busts, authorities seized crucial evidence, including a complete computer set, a laptop, printers, a pack of vellum paper, a metal ruler, a rubber stamp, nine gold seals, a cutter, and several unfinished fake PWD IDs. They also recovered various suspected forged identification cards, assorted counterfeit public and private documents, and marked buy-bust money amounting to ₱900.00
The suspects and evidence were handed over to the RSOG and MPD-DID respectively for further investigation and legal proceedings. Charges for Violation of Article 171 (Falsification of Public Documents) and Article 176 (Manufacturing and Possession of Instruments for Falsification) of the Revised Penal Code are being prepared against the individuals before the Office of the City Prosecutor - Manila.
PBGen Anthony A Aberin, Acting Regional Director, praised the operating teams for the successful operations and pledged to eradicate such fraudulent activities. “NCRPO will be unwavering against these unscrupulous individuals who deceive the public to advance their personal agenda and interest. Our operations against these types of scams will be aggressive and we shall ensure that airtight cases will be filed against them to ensure their conviction after trial.”
