Sikat empowers its assisted communities through hands-on training on basic solar system operations.

Sikat's Program Coordinator Renato Lorilla conducted the 2nd batch of training last September 20 in Mindoro. Six communities attended the session together with Sikat's partners, the Mangyan Mission Inc. and Keep Hope Alive.

Director Jesse M. Pine of the DOST MIMAROPA Office warmly welcomed Sikat's team. The DOST and Sikat are exploring opportunities for collaboration for Mindoro projects.

Sikat met with its Mindoro partners, Keep Hope Alive (KHA), the Mangyan Mission, Inc. (MMI) and the Social Action Center of Calapan (SACC) last September 18 and 19.

The partnerships aim to uplift lives of off-grid unelectrified communities in Mindoro through renewable energy interventions.

IN PHOTO: Sikat formalized its partnership with First Balfour through the signing of a memorandum of understanding at First Balfour's office in Parañaque City on September 15.

The partnership seeks to create sustainabile interventions for off-grid unelectrified communities in Rizal and Mindoro. First Balfour, with the active involvement of its employee-volunteers, will share technical and professional expertise to help address key needs such as quality education, livelihood development, health and wellness, and improved communication.

Sikat was represented by its President Denardo Cuayo and Vice President Odie Maddatu, while SGV was represented by its Chief Sustainability Officer Clairma T. Mangangey.

Facilitated through SGV Foundation, Inc. (SGVF), this initiative between the two parties aims to uplift the quality of living in off-grid unelectrified communities in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro.

The MOA signing was held at the SGV office in Makati City. SGV Chairman Wilson P. Tan, SGVF Board of Trustee member and Assurance Partner Christine G. Vallejo, SGVF Executive Director Maria Regina O. Maldonado, and SSCFI Executive Director Catherine Cabrillos were also present during the MOA signing.

Sikat together with the Mangyan Mission installed solar DC systems to 6 off-grid sitios in Oriental Mindoro. The systems will provide light to community centers and charging ports for mobile phones.

Sikat installed its DC system at Shepherd's Home in Alaminos Pangasinan last August 1. Pangasinan was severely affected by the habagat rains last July. It may take months before regular power resumes in the area. The system will provide light to the home and allow the brothers to charge their mobile phones.
