Students may have sensory, communication, mobility, behavioral, or other support needs that require individualized planning BEFORE an emergency happens.

The Individual Emergency and Lockdown Plan (IELP) helps families, schools, caregivers, responders, and support personnel think ahead:

Active shooter plans that are based on lockdown strategies have proven to be ineffective when it comes to students with disabilities.

What is your lockdown plan?

Individual Emergency and Lockdown Plan for Families Living with Differently-Abled and other with Access and Functional Needs.

Though we don't have a national model to have this implemented. It is better that we ourselves take the initiative to be proactive, plan, prepare and practice for an emergency or disaster.

Everyone must do all they can to help themselves to stay safe.

This was also presented during my talks with REACT Phils. Inc., Carmona MDRRMO, Antipolo DRRMO, Valenzuela CDRRMO, TacsExpo and Pinoy Prepper Bazaar.

Effective emergency preparedness for students with disabilities requires individualized planning that addresses their unique needs. Autism Response PH recommends the use of Individual Emergency and Lockdown Plans (IELPs) as part of a school’s emergency preparedness approach. These plans may complement a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan, when applicable, and should be regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the student’s communication, sensory, behavioral, mobility, medical, and safety needs during emergencies and lockdown situations.

An IELP provides school personnel, caregivers, and emergency responders with practical guidance on how to appropriately support the student before, during, and after an emergency while promoting safety, dignity, accessibility, and individualized accommodations.
