IS IT BAD TO MEDDLE IN POLITICS?

The late Pope Francis, during his homily at a daily Mass in Casa Santa Marta on Sept. 23, 2013, emphasized that political engagement is not inherently wrong for Catholics. Rather, he encouraged the faithful to take an active role in public life, stressing that “a good Catholic meddles in politics” by offering the best of oneself for the common good.

The Holy Father added that Christians cannot remain indifferent to governance, saying: “None of us can say, ‘I have nothing to do with this, how they govern.’ … No, no, I am responsible for their governance, and I have to do the best so that they govern well, and I have to do my best by participating in politics according to my ability.’”

As Catholics, faith is not lived only within the walls of the church, but also through our responsibility toward society and our neighbor.

On this blessed Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Ministry on Ecology of Sto. Rosario de Pasig Parish humbly offered flowers to our Blessed Mother, not only as symbols of beauty, but as reminders of our shared responsibility to protect God’s creation. 🌸🌿

Every petal offered today carried a prayer:
for healing, for peace, for the Earth, and for every heart learning to care more deeply for our common home.

We are deeply grateful to all who journeyed with us in this meaningful Marian offering: our beloved Legion of Mary, Inang Katakataka, Lector Commentator Ministry, Tita Lin Rayo, our dear Prayer Leaders, Tita Ma. Fel Jariel, Kuya Hans Reodica, our Mother Butler's Guild & Ushers Ministry Eco-Champions and our assigned Choir whose voices lifted our prayers heavenward. 🤍

As part of this special day, we were also blessed to visit the first-ever Marian Exhibit located at the Left Wing of our Parish, a beautiful testimony of faith, devotion, culture, and love for Our Lady.

In the spirit of Laudato Si’, may we always remember:
to offer flowers to Mary is also to protect the gardens, forests, rivers, and lands entrusted to us by God. For creation itself is a living prayer.

There is no Planet B. Only one common home. And together, we continue to bloom in faith, stewardship, and hope. 🌏✨

𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑: 𝐆𝐎𝐃’𝐒 𝐆𝐈𝐅𝐓, 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 💧🌿

As we conclude the celebration of Laudato Si’ Week 2026 (𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟳-𝟮𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲) this 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, we are reminded that the Holy Spirit continues to renew not only the Church, but all creation.

In a world where forests are disappearing and waters are increasingly threatened, the call to care for our common home becomes more urgent, more human, and more spiritual. This is no longer just an environmental concern, it is a mission of faith, stewardship, and love for future generations.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 – 𝐃𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐠 warmly invites all parishioners, parish ministries, youth, families, environmental advocates, and communities to join our most awaited formation seminar.

Let us gather together to deepen our understanding of Integral Ecology and rediscover our Christian vocation as protectors of God’s creation. Through this meaningful formation, we hope to inspire ecological awareness rooted in prayer, action, and communion with one another.

In the middle of violent protests in Myanmar in 2021, armed riot police moved toward a group of unarmed civilians — many of them young people and children.

Then one woman stepped forward.

Sister Ann Rose Nu Tawng, a Catholic nun from the Kachin community, walked directly into the street wearing nothing but her simple white habit and her faith.

She dropped to her knees.

Stretching out her arms before the rifles, she pleaded with the soldiers through tears:

“Shoot me instead! Don’t shoot the children!”

The armed officers froze.

Faced with one defenseless nun willing to die for others, they halted their advance.

The moment was captured in a photograph that quickly spread across the world — a lone religious sister kneeling before heavily armed men, protecting the innocent with nothing but courage and love.

Sister Ann later explained why she did it:

“There was no one else to protect the people.”

She worked at a Catholic clinic caring for the sick and displaced, but on that day she became something more:

A living witness to Christ-like courage.

In a world filled with fear, anger, and violence, one small nun reminded millions what real bravery looks like.

Not power.
Not weapons.
Not hatred.

Sacrificial love.

Sister Ann Rose Nu Tawng, may God protect you and all who work for peace in Myanmar.
