On May 5–8, the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. hosted the BRAC University Center for Entrepreneurship Development for a learning exchange on EmPower implementation in the Philippines. The activity included discussions with EmPower local partners and visits with client beneficiaries of Ahon Sa Hirap, Inc. and Bangko Kabayan.

Jointly implemented by UN Women Asia and the Pacific and the UN Environment Programme in Asia Pacific with support from the Governments of Germany, New Zealand, Sweden and Switzerland, EmPower is dedicated to empowering women and marginalized groups to take the lead in building climate-resilient communities through MCPI and its member-MFIs.

On April 17, MCPI conducted another batch of the orientation on Clean and Climate-Resilient Technologies for Microenterprises for clients of NWTF in Mandaue City, Cebu. The activity was attended by a total of 46 microentrepreneur clients of NWTF.

Last April 13 and 14, MCPI conducted its training on Clean and Climate-Resilient Technologies for microentrepreneur clients of RAFI Microfinance in Carcar and San Fernando, Cebu. The training was attended by a total of 75 microentrepreneur clients of RAFI Microfinance.

MCPI held a Consultation Workshop on the Microfinance Code of Ethics (CoE) on April 7, 2026 as part of the Microfinance Operations Staff Summit.

During the consultation workshop, participants discussed the role of the CoE in addressing critical issues and challenges that the microfinance industry is facing.

MCPI is currenlty updating the Microfinance CoE to make it more relevant to changes in the microfinance industry in the country.

MCPI conducted the 2026 Microfinance Operations Staff Summit on April 7-8, 2026 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila, which was attended by 287 participants from 50 institutions.

The summit sessions helped microfinance operations staff identify operational strategies that work in the field. Participants also discussed and addressed operational issues and challenges experienced by field staff of MFIs.
