The microfinance community warmly congratulates Senator Bam Aquino on his appointment as Chair of the Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship.

For many years, we have worked alongside Filipino families striving to build better lives through small businesses, hard work, and determination. We have seen how access to opportunities, capital, training, and supportive policies can help transform the lives of microentrepreneurs, especially the countless nanays who work tirelessly to provide for their families and strengthen their communities.

It is for this reason that we deeply appreciate Senator Bam's longstanding commitment to entrepreneurship and financial inclusion. His leadership in championing measures such as the Go Negosyo Act and the Microfinance NGOs Act helped create a more enabling environment for microentrepreneurs and the organizations that support them.

As Senator Bam returns to lead the Committee on Trade, we are hopeful about the opportunities ahead. We believe that meaningful progress is achieved when government, civil society, and the private sector work together to empower those who are often overlooked but whose contributions are vital to our nation's growth.

The microfinance sector stands ready to continue working with Senator Bam in advancing policies that expand economic opportunity, strengthen livelihoods, and ensure that more Filipino families can participate in and benefit from our country's development.

We look forward to continuing our shared work in service of Filipino entrepreneurs, workers, and communities.

MCPI organized a Lakbay Aral for Operations Staff on June 10-11, 2026, which was participated by 48 staff from 16 MFIs.

The Lakbay Aral provided participants with practical insights into how different MFIs implement their center meetings. This enabled participants to observe actual center meetings, interact with management and field staff, and engage directly with microfinance clients to better understand the evolving practices related to the conduct of center meetings.

We would like to thank CARD, Inc. A Microfinance NGO and K- COOP for hosting this Lakbay Aral.
