The Integrated Bar of the Philippines, with National President and Chairperson of the 27th Board of Governors, Atty. Allan G. Panolong, gracing Pagila 2026: A Celebration of Lawyers as its honored guest and keynote speaker, joined the IBP Misamis Oriental Chapter in an evening dedicated to honoring excellence, service, and the continuing growth of the legal profession.

As head of the mandatory organization of all Filipino lawyers, Atty. Panolongโ€™s presence underscored the significance of the occasion, particularly in welcoming the newest members of the Barโ€”those who successfully hurdled the 2025 Bar Examinationsโ€”into the IBP Misamis Oriental Chapter. A total of 106 new lawyers formally took their place in the integrated bar, marking the beginning of their professional journey within the institution that unites the Philippine legal community.

The induction rites were led by Court of Appeals Executive Justice Lily V. Biton of the Mindanao Station, who administered the oath of the chapterโ€™s newest members. Also in attendance were Court of Appeals Associate Justice Jeoffre W. Acebido and distinguished members of the Judiciary, the prosecution service, and the broader legal community.

In his keynote address, President Panolong shared reflections on the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of practicing law, emphasizing that membership in the IBP is not merely a requirement but a commitment to uphold competence, integrity, independence, and fidelity to the rule of law.

The occasion also honored lawyers recently appointed to positions in the Judiciary, Executive Department, quasi-judicial agencies, constitutional commissions, and government-owned and controlled corporations, recognizing their contributions to public service and the administration of justice.

As the IBP welcomes its newest lawyers and celebrates the achievements of its distinguished members, Pagila 2026 stands as a powerful reminder that the practice of law is both a privilege and a public trustโ€”one that binds every lawyer to serve the nation and uphold justice.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines extends its warmest congratulations to the new lawyers, honorees, and public servants recognized during this meaningful occasion.

In his address to the newly minted lawyers of the IBP Lanao del Sur Chapter, IBP National President and Chairperson of the 27th Board of Governors, Atty. Allan G. Panolong reminded the next generation of lawyers that their journey is rooted in shared identity, shaped by sacrifice, and defined by responsibility.

Speaking before distinguished members of the legal community, including Hon. Wenida M. Papandayan, Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 10; Atty. Omar M. Macapaar, City Prosecutor of Marawi; Atty. Daud R. Calala, Partner at CMSB Law, and Atty. Halim M. Noor of the Public Attorneyโ€™s Office, alongside the IBP Lanao del Sur Chapter, led by its Chapter President Atty. Numeiry Padate emphasized that the title of โ€œlawyerโ€ is both an honor and a lifelong duty.

He underscored that the path to the profession demands resilience, and thus, the title must be guarded with integrity, discipline, and unwavering dedication. Success, he emphasized, is not measured by status or material gain but by integrity, competence, and professionalism. In this light, the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability must not merely be observed but lived, serving as a constant moral compass, much like faith itself.

Moreover, the new lawyers were cautioned to exercise prudence in the digital age, recognizing that their responsibilities extend beyond the courtroom into every public space, including social media. They were called to active membership within the IBP, to serve meaningfully through legal aid and institutional participation, and to strengthen the profession through unity and engagement.

Finally, the President reaffirmed that the IBP stands as an apolitical institutionโ€”steadfast in its commitment to the rule of law above all elseโ€”and urged every member to protect its integrity with vigilance and professionalism.

As the newest members of the Bar begin their journey, they are called to lead with purpose, remain anchored in principle, and serve with honorโ€”carrying forward not only their oath but also the enduring legacy of their chapter and community.
