On March 13–14, 2026, Harbest Foundation in partnership with Philippines Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture (PPSA), in collaboration with the local government units (LGUs) of Jalajala, Pililla, and Tanay, Rizal, successfully implemented a 2-Day Mother and Child Farming Initiative Program funded by Corteva Agriscience through GlobalGiving.

Building on the success of the first day, the mother-and-child pairs from Jala-jala, Pililla, and Tanay continued activities that emphasized the importance of nutrition and edible gardening.

Nutrition specialists from Pililla and Jala-jala shared practical guidance on how vegetables support children’s health and development while technical experts from Harbest Foundation introduced the basics of gardening, equipping families with skills to grow their own food at home, supporting both daily nutrition and potential livelihood opportunities.

Participants were further inspired by PPSA’s Women Farmer Champions, Ms. Marivic Gaspar and Ms. Maureen Blancad, from Region 2, who shared their personal farming experiences and encouraged families to view agriculture as a sustainable way of life.

More than a farming activity, this initiative helps strengthen food security, encourages stronger family bonds, promotes sustainable agricultural practices, and supports healthier, more resilient communities.

Together, we cultivate not only gardens, but also hope, resilience, and sustainability for generations to come.
