A meaningful evening of fellowship, exchange of ideas, and shared commitment to strengthening the bonds of the SSEAYP community. ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ

We were honored to spend time with the Director of International Youth Exchange Cabinet Office, Government of Japan, Makino Masahiro, and SSEAYP Chief Yukako Takeda, engaging in meaningful conversations about the future of the program, its continued impact on generations of alumni, and opportunities to further strengthen collaboration among ASEAN and Japan stakeholders.

As we look ahead to the milestone 50th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP), we remain grateful for the enduring friendships, partnerships, and shared vision that continue to connect people across borders. The evening served as a reminder of the strong bonds built through the program and the collective commitment of alumni to support its continued success. ๐Ÿšข

Thank you, Director Makino and SSEAYP Chief Takeda, for your time, insights, and friendship. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Philippines and continuing our collaboration in the years to come. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Following the devastating Magnitude 7.8 Earthquake that struck Mindanao on June 8, 2026, many families were displaced, homes were damaged, and communities were left struggling to recover.

In response, the Tagum City Youth and Sports Development Office, Local Youth Development Council, Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, Youth Organizations, together with Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) Batch Bagani - Philippine Youth Ambassadors of Goodwill and Waves For Water Philippines, have united under a Joint Community Disaster Response Initiative to provide immediate relief, restore hope, and support affected communities on their road to recovery.

In times of disaster, solidarity becomes action.

We call on everyone, every youth leader, every organization, and every compassionate individual to stand with our fellow Mindanawons. Together, we can provide immediate assistance to affected families and help communities recover from this tragedy.

Every donation, no matter the size, can bring comfort, dignity, and hope.

To the ship that carried thousands of dreams across oceans and generations โ€” arigatou gozaimasu, Nippon Maru. ๐Ÿ›ณ๏ธ๐Ÿ’–

For more than five decades since 1974, the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program has become more than just a program because of the memories, friendships, and life-changing journeys formed onboard. For many alumni, Nippon Maru was not only a vessel sailing across seas, but also a home that nurtured leadership, cultural understanding, solidarity, and lifelong connections among the youth of Japan and Southeast Asia.

Within your halls echoed countless stories of hope, laughter, performances, sleepless conversations, and dreams for a better world. You witnessed generations of young leaders grow with courage, compassion, and a shared commitment to friendship and cooperation. For many of us, you were never just a ship โ€” you were a safe space, a teacher, a symbol of friendship, and a second home.

As you now take your final bow and retire from operation, we honor your legacy and the immeasurable impact you have made in shaping the lives of thousands of SSEAYP alumni around the world. Though your voyage may come to an end, the spirit of unity and friendship you carried will continue to sail in our hearts forever.

No words will ever fully capture what you mean to us. But one thing remains certain: wherever life takes us, a part of our hearts will always sail with you. Thank you for carrying generations of changemakers, dreamers, and lifelong friendships.

You may leave the seas, but you will never leave our hearts.
Sayonara, Nippon Maru. ๐ŸŒŠโœจ
