This Mental Health Awareness Month, let us remind ourselves that it is okay not to be okay, to take a break, and to ask for help when we need it. Behind every smile is a story, and a little kindness, understanding, and compassion can make a world of difference.

Let us create a safe and supportive community where everyone feels heard, valued, and never alone. Remember, reaching out is a sign of strength, and no one has to face their struggles alone. Together, let us break the stigma and make mental health a priority for all. 💙

SSEAYP International Philippines (SIP) mourns the passing of Lawrence Espinosa, a Philippine Participating Youth in the 19th SSEAYP (1992).

Though he may be gone, the friendships, memories, and connections forged through SSEAYP will forever remain part of our shared legacy. He will always be remembered as a cherished member of the SSEAYP family.

Our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. May you find comfort in the memories and love he leaves behind.

What does it mean to feel LIGTAS?

It can begin with knowing your own strengths and choices. With relationships grounded in respect, safety, and support. With knowing your rights and knowing where to turn when help is needed.

On October 17, around 50 DLSU-D Night College Scholars will come together for Project LIGTAS: Women’s Agency, Safety, and Rights, a participant-centered morning of learning and reflection on personal agency, healthy and supportive relationships, rights awareness, and help-seeking.

Through SARILI, UGNAYAN + DAMAY, and GABAY, Project LIGTAS connects knowing oneself and one’s choices with building supportive relationships, understanding one’s rights, and knowing when, where, and how to seek appropriate help.

Organized by SSEAYP International Philippines – Southern Tagalog Chapter and the DLSU-D National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS), with the support of our DLSU-D and community partners, Project LIGTAS also carries forward the spirit of youth exchange, service, and friendship as we commemorate 70 years of Philippines-Japan relations. 🇵🇭🇯🇵

Ong, Vice President for International Affairs and a proud Philippine Participating Youth of SSEAYP 2010 - Batch Pangkat Sulo, on her selection as the On-Board Ship Conference (OBSC) Representative of the Philippines for the 50th SSEAYP!

Having journeyed through SSEAYP as a young participant, Sheng will now return to the program in a new capacity—bringing with her years of experience, dedication, and a deep commitment to the SSEAYP community.

Today, we celebrate more than a program—we celebrate a journey that has brought together generations of young people from Southeast Asia and Japan, creating friendships that transcend borders, cultures, and time.

From the moment we stepped aboard the ship, we became part of something bigger: a community built on mutual understanding, cultural exchange, leadership, and service. Though the voyage may end, the connections we made and the memories we created continue to sail with us wherever life takes us.

May we always carry the spirit of SSEAYP in our hearts—building bridges, embracing differences, serving our communities, and keeping the bonds of friendship alive.

Happy SSEAYP Day! 🛳️💙

SSEAYP Day is more than a celebration of a program—it is a celebration of the friendships, memories, and shared dreams that have connected generations of young people across Southeast Asia and Japan.

Last September 6, we gathered for the 50th SSEAYP PDT Alumni Night, a meaningful evening filled with laughter, stories, reunions, and the unmistakable spirit of the SSEAYP family.

Fifty years may have passed, but the heart of SSEAYP remains the same: bringing people together, building bridges across cultures, and inspiring generations to lead with friendship, understanding, and service.

To everyone who has been part of this incredible journey—PPYs, alumni, facilitators, leaders, and friends—thank you for keeping the spirit of SSEAYP alive.

Today, as we celebrate SSEAYP Day, let these memories remind us that the journey does not end when the ship docks. The friendships continue. The memories endure. And the spirit of SSEAYP sails on. ⚓️🌏

KIZUNA FOR THE COAST: Celebrating 70 Years of Philippines–Japan Friendship Through Environmental Action 🌊🇵🇭🇯🇵

The SSEAYP International Philippines – NCR Chapter extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made “Kizuna for the Coast: Celebrating 70 Years of Philippines–Japan Friendship Through Environmental Action” a meaningful and memorable day.

Held last September 19, 2026, at Baseco Beach, Port Area, Manila, the activity brought together SSEAYP alumni, youth leaders, volunteers, and partners in support of the International Coastal Cleanup 2026. Together, we rolled up our sleeves, cared for our coastline, and demonstrated how friendship can be transformed into collective action for our communities and environment.

To our SSEAYP alumni, volunteers, youth leaders, community partners, friends, supporters, and donors—thank you for giving your time, energy, resources, and heart to this initiative.

Beyond the bags of collected waste and the cleaned-up shoreline, we celebrate something even more meaningful: the connections we strengthened, the awareness we shared, and the spirit of volunteerism we brought to life.

As we commemorate 70 years of Philippine-Japan friendship, may kizuna, our bonds and connections, continue to inspire us to work together for cleaner communities, a healthier environment, and a more sustainable future.

In Loving Memory of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali (1926–2026) 🕊️

SSEAYP International Philippines joins the people of Malaysia and the SSEAYP community in mourning the passing of Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.

A pioneering woman in medicine and public health, Dr. Siti Hasmah dedicated much of her life to serving others, particularly through her work in healthcare, education, women and family welfare, and community development. Her century-long life of service leaves a meaningful legacy that transcends generations and borders.

As members of a regional family that values friendship, service, understanding, and solidarity among the peoples of Asia and the Pacific, we honor her life and contributions to Malaysia and beyond.

Our deepest condolences to Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, their children and family, and all those who mourn her passing. 🙏🏻

In celebration of 70 years of Philippines-Japan friendship, the SSEAYP International Philippines – Southern Tagalog Chapter invites you to HERITAGE IN PRACTICE, a virtual conversation on culture, heritage, and the ways we carry them forward. 🇵🇭🇯🇵

Together with SSEAYP alumni working in different fields, we’ll explore local histories and Philippine-Japan connections, heritage governance and community action, music and creative practice, and how youth exchange can inspire action back home.

But we also want to hear from you. Come with a story, tradition, place, practice, or idea from your own community that deserves to be better understood, protected, practiced, or shared.
