Hundreds of volunteers gathered at Villamor Airbase Elementary School as One Pasay, together with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Pasay City Government, formally launched Brigada Eskwela 2026.
The activity brought together members of JCI Senate Pasay, JCI Pasay, and JCI Perlas Pasay under the One Pasay banner, alongside teachers, parents, barangay officials, and community volunteers who spent the day helping prepare the school for the opening of classes.
Among the guests of honor were Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, Councilor Luigi Calixto-Rubiano, JCI Senate Pasay President Senator Gene Bautista, JCI Senator Dr. Elton See Tan, JCI Senator Emelde Baldovino, JCI Pasay President Gabriel Ross "Gab Sebastian" Cunanan, JCI Perlas Pasay President Krystene Bello, and JCI Pasay Immediate Past President Tan Yu III. Their presence underscored the strong partnership between local government, civic organizations, and the education sector in supporting Pasay's students and schools.
Armed with paint brushes, cleaning materials, and a shared sense of purpose, volunteers worked on classrooms and school facilities to ensure that students would return to a cleaner and more welcoming campus. The event reflected the spirit of cooperation that has become the hallmark of Brigada Eskwela, where different sectors of the community come together in support of public education.
For One Pasay, the activity marked another opportunity to work closely with both government and community partners in addressing the needs of local schools. The organization has long supported initiatives that benefit young people, recognizing that education remains one of the strongest foundations for community development.
School officials welcomed the support extended by volunteers and partner organizations, noting that Brigada Eskwela continues to play an important role in helping schools prepare for the new academic year. Beyond the physical improvements made during the activity, the program also serves as a reminder of the community's shared commitment to the welfare of its students.
The launch at Villamor Airbase Elementary School signals the start of a series of volunteer-driven activities leading up to the opening of classes, with stakeholders from both the public and private sectors contributing their time, resources, and expertise.
As another school year approaches, the partnership among One Pasay, DepEd, and the Pasay City Government highlights a simple but important message: when a community works together, schools become stronger and students are given a better environment in which to learn and succeed.
