HON. DILG Jonvic Remulla, I understand that you have concerns about TBS, and I respect your responsibility to speak about issues that may affect the community. At the same time, I hope that any statements made about our group are based on clear, verifiable facts and are presented with the proper context. Serious accusations deserve careful consideration, especially when minors and allegations of criminal activity are involved.
Just because we’re labeled a “street gang” doesn’t automatically mean that everyone in the group is involved in crime. We didn’t invest our time, effort, and resources into community outreach and charity programs just to be portrayed as nothing more than convenience-store thieves. We’re trying to use our platform and influence to help steer today’s youth away from the wrong path and give them something positive to be part of.
If there are specific individuals who committed crimes, hold those individuals accountable based on evidence. But please don’t condemn an entire community or dismiss the positive work we’ve been doing because of a label. We’re open to fair criticism and legitimate concerns, but we also hope that our efforts are judged fairly and that the work we’ve done to support young people is not overlooked.
Our goal has always been to encourage today’s youth to make better choices, stay away from crime, and contribute positively to their communities. We believe that mission deserves to be understood on its own merits rather than defined solely by a label.
