A Historic Celebration of Friendship, Maritime Legacy, and Shared Horizons

We had the distinct honor of attending the Norway Constitution Day 2026 celebration hosted by the Norwegian Embassy, held at the spectacular Museo de Galeón—the perfect venue where the ocean isn't just a backdrop, but the main attraction! 🌊

This year’s milestone marks nearly 80 years of shared principles and friendship between our nations—a bond as bright and enduring as a Norwegian summer. For 78 years of deep diplomatic and maritime ties, the Philippines and Norway have sailed parallel courses toward progress.

Here are our key takeaways from this historic evening, which featured the first-ever indoor Constitution Parade inside the largest indoor museum:
• The Backbone of Global Shipping: Filipino seafarers represent an incredible 68% of the workforce on Norwegian-controlled vessels.
• Seafarer Welfare: A heavy emphasis was placed on safeguarding the rights of seafarers, advancing a gender-balanced maritime industry, and strengthening the PH-Norway Maritime Council.
• Global Leadership: Beyond the seas, we celebrate Norway’s steadfast contributions to human rights promotion, UN-recognized achievements in global peace, and pioneering strides in renewable energy.

Looking Ahead 🚢
We are profoundly inspired by Norway’s unwavering commitment to maritime excellence, sustainability, and human dignity. As we look to the horizon, we hope to see exciting new horizons open up—perhaps even a future collaboration between these shared ideals and FastCat to further elevate Philippine domestic shipping!

Thank you to the Norwegian Embassy in Manila for an inspiring evening. Cheers to many more decades of smooth sailing and strong partnership! 🥂🇵🇭🇳🇴

Leadership is Inherited, Not Invited ⚓✨

Attending the International Day for Women in Maritime, the message flashing on the projector screen cut straight through the old noise: Women do not need to be invited into spaces of leadership because we have always belonged there.

It’s time to completely shift the narrative. For Filipina women, leadership isn’t a modern corporate privilege we need to ask permission for—it is our cultural inheritance. Long before modern ships charted the global oceans, our history was already rooted in the legacy of the Babaylans—the original authorities, leaders, and healers who guided, navigated, and transformed societies. We aren't entering these spaces; we are reclaiming them.

But as the discussions highlighted today, breaking down injustice in male-dominated fields isn't a solitary battle. True gender equity isn't just a social goal; it’s a national imperative, a development strategy, and a moral obligation. We need men as allies to challenge outdated norms because shared progress benefits everyone.

We are moving far past the era of simply being "present" on deck. Representation shapes reality. It is right here, through our sacred commitments to deliver income, security, justice, and dignity, that we ensure our women don't just work in the maritime industry—we lead it.

The sails are set, the legacy is alive, and the modern-day Babaylans are navigating the future on their own terms. 🌊🚢
